Amazon Customer: It came fairly sharp, but sharpened really well. It is pretty stiff opening with the thumb stud. But it does open easily with the flick of the wrist. So far it carries well with the pocket. Not sure the pocket clip will stay on it so far it hasn’t hung on anything. I cleaned one deer with it. Held a good edge all the way through the process. At first I didn’t think much it wasn’t what I expected from K bar, but it is actually pretty robust time will tell.

Peter D.: The knife is both light enough yet robust enough to be carried and used in many situations. I have the blue handle and even my social worker sister thought it was “cute” when we where helping our mother get rid of a stack of boxes in her garage. It was strong enough for a number of jobs on a 3 day outing in the Adirondacks. Know the lock back is stiff. The AUS8 is very good.

Ramiro Martinez: Compre esta navaja despues de analizar el mercado de navajas económicas. Me gusto el peso ligero, co comoda que es para usarse, , el acero inoxidable japones Aus8 que si bien es un acero económico y con poca retención de filo, es inoxidable y facil de afilar. La navaja que compre viene un tanto dura de abrir, pero aceptable y poco a poco se va a flojando. Esto depende de la navaja que te toque, algunas vienen mas suaves que otras. No tiene juego lateral. Muy satisfecho porque no es un producto que no te duela perder, o bien puede ser un buen regalo a algun amigo o persona allegada. En general la recomiendo.

Sarge IISarge II: TLDR: lightweight, reliable, sharp and easy enough sharpen. So good that I bought two within two months of each other :) Not perfect: the pocket clip rides high and the paint on the clip scuffs really easily.

The Ka-Bar Dozier has always been on my radar as a low-cost, high-value folding knife that you can grab and go or toss in a hiking bag BUT I always stopped myself from buying one because it honestly looks cheap (both the blade and the FRN). When the new D2 version came out, I actually really liked it, the blade coating (I live in the tropics) and the FRN finish was attractive BUT I still held off because it had a D2 blade and I found this a bit harder to sharpen (interestingly, my only other D2 knife is a Ka-Bar USMC combat blade). When I was able to snag one at a discount from Amazon, I decided to buy one and I'm glad I did.

From the get-go, really liked the construction of the knife, it snapped open easily (no blade play) and the lock was excellent. The blade shape is awesome and slices very easily. Psychomiko: I've owned a few kabar products, and this one is very close to the top of my favorites, even though it's the cheapest. The value of this knife, yet the quality with which it's built, is what I wish all knife manufacturers strived for. I've had this knife for about a year and use as EDC and for fishing. The lock back mechanism is very sturdy and I've never had a problem with the knife unlocking when in use. The blade has no lateral movement or instability. Unlocking the knife after use is also extremely easy and both opening and closing the blade can be easily done with one hand, however I've purchased 2 of these knives and both arrived with a very tight hinge so you may need to use a small hex wrench to loosen it up in order to open and close the knife easily. I'd rather have the knife too tight than too loose though. Here's where this knife shines:

The handle is not flashy, but very practical. The plastic may feel a little cheap at first, but the simple stippling makes this knife very comfortable in the hand and the grip is secure and stable even when wet.
