Klare 5 Sterne.

Van Patten: I first got ‘into’ Judge Dredd in the mid 80s and by that time was able to purchase some Progs from the late 100s - my older brother actually bought as early as Prog 7 but was ‘recycled’ (would be worth a lot now albeit probably not given the condition!) anyway, as a minor digression even in the 80s the earliest Judge Dredd story reprinted in full was ‘The Cursed Earth’ (covered in Vol2) so even in the original Titan forms this collection would have been very tricky to ‘get’ without a significant outlay.
Having read some of the reviews which are adverse, I think they’re not unfair. Sometimes the dialogue here is risible and hasn’t held up well to 40 years of hindsight, especially knowing how good some later stories are. However, for me this is absolutely superb and probably the best value of any of the Rebellion stories, especially if it’s on offer. Featuring some essential stories, it really gives an insight into the character and his origins. Particular highlights are the Robot Rebellion and the stint as the resident Marshal in the ‘Lunar One’ colony but even though there are some ‘unusual’ stories which don’t quite work, for me this is a...

Chill Will: I always desired to get into the comics but being Judge Dredd has been around since 1977 and myslef being born in 1980 I had no idea where to begin. This is why I love the case files because they start from his first appeseence in 2000 AD's weekly comic, I was able to start from the beginning from his early adventures and since to date there are 31 which will surely get you up to date. I brought this book on Kindle and had a hard time putting it down, was really a great read, I plan on buying 1 a month, highly recomended.

thewizardofodd: First off this Volume is Gigantic...it's as thick as a large Phonebook (For those of you who remember what that is) It's full of short 4-8 page Judge Dredd Stories so it's Very Action Packed throughout, it's not one BIG Volume of One story Arc that just goes on and on...Even though if they're quality like "Watchmen" or "V for Vendetta" that works too...The fact it's all in Black and White didn't bother me one bit, the art work is good throughout When Brian Bolland is at the helm which is quite a few times throughout the volume the Art is Amazing, (I'm a huge fan of Bolland ever since Batman "The Killing Joke"...Over all unlike with some big volume collections (Savage Sword of Conan) it all makes sense and DOES make sense Chronologically which is Great because SSOC being all over the place made it confusing to read...I'm about to move on to Volume 2, and for as big of books as these are, I'm not sick of it nor do I want to take a break from it before starting #2, and I think that in itself shows the entertainment value of this collection!

Nicola Mansfield: Reason for Reading: I've read quite a few Judge Dredd collections now including book 5 of these Case Files and knew it was time to start at the beginning.
This is where it all started! The very first Judge Dredd stories collected together in chronological order are a delight for any fan to read. I had such a fun time reading this book. The book starts off with single episode stories but it doesn't take long until the Robot Wars issues start and we have a long running sequential story. After this the stories vary from one short episode to several long running issues. Midway through the book Dredd is sent to Lunar-1, the moon, as the new Marshall, and the rest of the book takes place there which was a little disappointing as such little time was spent in MegaCity 1 for this book. However just at the very end he returns home to earth. I had not ever read any stories that took place on the moon so this was all interesting for me and I have to say I enjoyed everything in this collection along with all the cheesiness involved in the early days of Dredd.
First, I had not realized Dredd started in the late '70s, I had thought it was early '80s, and this makes a difference in...

WryGuy2: "Judge Dredd: Complete Case Files v. 1" is a collection of the first stories starring Judge Dredd, the venerable English comic book hero, who has been in print, in one form or another, for well over 30 years. For the most part the series is set in the future in 2099, in Mega City 1 (nominally New York City). Judge Dredd is the most well-known (and most feared) of the Street Judges, lawmen who are empowered to arrest, judge, and sentence anyone they find guilty of a crime. Each story runs to a maximum of about 8 pages (due to the fact that they originally ran in a weekly science fiction anthology), although some of the episodes link together in a broader story arc.
These stories, particularly at the beginning of the book, are a little heavy-handed and simplistic, although the same can be said for most of the first few issues of "classic" comic books starring other characters. However, over the course of this first collection, the character of Judge Dredd and his world are fleshed out more and more, and the stories point to the familiar characterizations and complex plot-lines to come. That's not to say that this book is not entertaining or worth reading, but if you started...

Jarrett Burdette: When I wanted to get into judge dredd I went to the internet and the major opinion seemed to be go with volume 4 or 5 the begining stuff is kinda boring I think this is a completely untrue analysis I have no former knowledge of Dredd other than the film and I loved this book granted sometimes dredd seems a bit cheesy but thats one of the only downsides besides inconsistant art which isnt a big deal theres a few issues with the book yes but these shine even when stacked with more recent books Dredd does everything from fight a robot king kong to a modern day frankenstein and with the story length being on average 3-5 pages its easy to pick up and read a few whenever
I dont know how good the other ones get but this is a great starting point
