MarkyMarky: So years ago I was sold on an egg slicer slash mushroom slicer -but the little metal bands broke when it came to mushrooms. I knew that there must be a better tool. Did have to tweak it a little. First I tried the entire mushroom but my mushrooms were too big. So next, I cut it in half and put it flat side down. Worked perfect 95% of the time. Next, I found a trick for the other 5% = after cutting ten or so, it had debris from previous cuts and would not fully cut. down to where the two parts would kiss together. I simply lift the top side a little tiny but and push back down ever so gently and it cut right through. It works and I should probable buy another one just in case they stop selling these. Seems when something works good, they disappear, ha ha.

Marty P.: It works pretty well and if you need to thinly slice a bunch of mushrooms it sure helps. However, if the blades were a little more sturdy they wouldn't so frequently deflect, causing the slicer not to close through completely.

Amy K: Works well with mushrooms and eggs. I used to use the wire kind but always had issues with the wires breaking on tough mushrooms but these blades cut very well and I haven’t had any issues yet.

R. Miller: First use--slicing a small, previously-opened carton of white mushrooms--led to one slightly bent blade. (Which I was able to straightened with a needle-nose pliers.) More troubling: at no time was I able to press the blades all the way down through the individual mushroom caps, no matter how much pressure I applied. The blades would cut most of the way through and then stop. I had to grasp the sliced top of each mushroom cap and pull it outward to get it free of the blades. I finally finished slicing them with a sharp knife. Upon examination, the cutting edge of the blades appears to be ground to an edge, but they don't feel especially sharp. One other note--this would be of more concern if the blades were sharper--when the slicer is closed, the cutting edges of the blades extend below the plastic tines on the bottom of the device. When you pick it up with your fingers underneath, they're touching the "shape" edges of the blades. If this were designed with thicker tines, the blades would not be exposed like this. As I use this more I'll update my review. It may work better on firmer very fresh mushrooms.

Laurie: Cuts mushrooms well enough, but the thin blades like to bend. This causes the mushrooms to get stuck sometimes but it's manageable with a little finesse.

ranger7: I got this as I use mushrooms a lot, and thought it would be a nice wee addition to my kitchen gadgets.
However the blades bent quickly and even though I reshaped them, I think its a flaw. It will struggle with big mushrooms, or older mushrooms that are less firm. On button mushrooms its perfect.
Stronger steel blades are required!
