RTH5555: This is a terrific laser level for the price. I originally wanted a rotating level for a large room project I was building. The other level would have been far more expensive. I have found this level to adapt to every project I have used it on. I got a little creative and used it for wall ledgers that were 9 ft. off the floor. I simply stood the level on a table and extended the stand. It worked fine. More recently I had to precisely match hidden ceiling joists with mounting marks on the floor. The vertical laser line, when backed off enough, gave me precise locations to match the needed coordinates. It is very accurate, lightweight, easy to use, and has a 6 degree slope adjustment which has been suitable for every project I have worked on. Caution should be exercised if you need to extend a line more than 25 ft. where minor error starts to be encountered. My only suggestion would be to consider a taller stand for higher projects. Otherwise, I can't see a need for more tool than this.

global_odyssey: This is my 2nd one. Nice item. Happy with the accuracy. Have relied on this laser to build and finish a large, technically challenging house project (90ft x 35ft) with this laser). Far cheaper than some other options. However, red line is hard to see in bright light, so if you can work at dusk for the longer distances, you should be OK. My first one took some serious abuse, including but not limited to falling over 20ft (I got it to work OK again even though the case was cracked) but finally gave up when it got knocked over for the umpteenth time. Comes with a reasonable tripod and batteries last a long time. Store it in the case when not being used and it will last longer than my first one!

Jiggly Puff: I purchased this unit only from Amazon. At the time, the unit was on sale and I saved an extra $20. This was a factor in my decision making. It was the cheapest laser level I could find that appeared to suit my needs, met a reasonable price point, and was available on short notice (Amazon Prime).

Overall, I quite like this unit. It worked well for my needs. I used to own another, similar device that I paid >$300 for a number of years ago. This unit - while not as robust - is doing a decent job of replacing my old unit. What I like the most is it displays both horizontal and vertical lines, whereas my old unit only did horizontal.

Bear in mind this is a light-duty, consumer-grade device. The laser level head itself seems very well constructed for this price point and target market. I have knocked the unit over a couple of times (with it on its tripod), and it has survived a 5' drop onto a wood floor. No perceptible damage or impact, which is good. If you are going to use this in a construction environment, it needs to be able to handle some scuffs here and there. Tombo: This is a good level and is well worth the money; it is light duty (but accurate) and I would consider it primarily as an indoor device; the laser light intensity is too low for most daylight outdoor applications. It is absolutely simple to use; just install the battery and turn it on; it projects a perfectly accurate horizontal and vertical line and it pivots 360 degrees along its base.

I have used it for many applications on the tripod but many more off the tripod; all that is necessary is to place the unit on a surface or shelf, at any elevation you desire and it will work as long as that surface is half-way level.

Having access to this device has changed the way I work, for hanging a door frame, framing a wall or figuring out what is going on in a wacky room it is usually more convenient and accurate than a spirit level and I am finding the new ways to use this device to be about limitless.

Gruh6: This is a quality tool, it has worked flawlessly for me. I have used other company similar product and it works as well , except !
this one came with a nice carry case a tripod which goes up to 4 ft., batteries, safety glasses, and the case has a holder for 4 batteries so I can carry an extra set all for $30 less. In addition to being like the other cross beam level that I used this one swivels on it's base which came in very handy. The job I just used it on was a pantry with slide out drawers, it was necessary to be able to mount the drawer slide exact and level on each side. 7 drawers each one was exact level front and back side to side. Set the tool on the ground marked the first lay out with a pencil installed the shelves and the slides measured up and put the level on it's tripod marked the next one and so on. There is a little crank handle which raises the mount for the laser head up about 1 foot the legs also extend in 2 parts each a foot at a time. When it was done the customer, my helper and my self were in awe of how beautiful the maple drawers looked and operated. one little push and they slid in till the hit the self closers and pulled in flush...
