James Tomkinson: For several years my heart would pound as i'd nervously install my AC through the kitchen window. I thought this model might be overkill as I have a smaller 5000 BTU unit. But reviews of others products looked shaky so I up-sold myself. The way the inside bars extend beyond the window frame is a confidence booster, and the many choices of ratchet pegs and adjustments made the fit perfect. Yes I had to supply my own leveler -- probably could have achieve good drainage angle without one.

That it was two strips extending outward means there's no change of the AC unit tipping as you slide it out to be placed.

There were also extra sealing strips supplied and the fit is mosquito-less, and cool-proof.

Robert C: I have a HUGE window (4 feet wide) I needed to install this in and took a chance. Replaced the sliding brace pieces with 2x0.75 inch square tubing 4 foot lengths attached together to make one 1.5x0.75 rectangle tube. Unit is rock solid. My AC is only 70 pounds, but because the window is so wide I didn't want to put all the weight on the window frame and risk bending it. One assembled the unit is solid. It seems janky at first, but reserve your judgement until it's fully assembled. Honestly felt easier to install than a unit sans bracket because I didn't have to be so ginger with the window frame.

Obviously your mileage may vary if you want to use this on a wide window, but I made it work and it seems fine.

Amazon Customer: Bought this to support a 60 pound window AC unit that is 20 inches wide. What I don't like, and I almost gave it a 3 instead of a 4, is that it is not as universal fitting as suggested. The description makes it sound like it will work in just about any window. I am using it in a window that is not at all unusual in its design or dimensions, yet even with the legs adjusted all the way inward, the supporting feet would not touch the exterior wall, which is needed for support. I had to add a piece of trim board to the side of the house so that the legs had something to rest against. However, it does seem sturdy, and now that I have modified things the install will go much easier next season. I wouldn't tell you not to buy it if you are comfortable with not being absolutely sure it will work in your window.

David M. Draper: The unit is constructed well and sturdy. Assembly was straight forward however they do include some extra hardware that could confuse some people.

I was working with a small window that was exactly 22" across. I am pleased to report this fit my window without any modifications. It was a very tight fit requiring a little persuasion with a rubber mallet but it went in.

The point of the install for me was to prevent the A/C from falling out if my 100lb. German Shepherd jumped and pressed his feet on it while trying to look out the window above the A/C. He already knocked one A/C out this year. There was no support behind the A/C. Thankfully the A/C did not extend to the end of the supports so I was able to mark where the end of the A/C was and then install some L brackets on the supports that prevent the A/C from sliding out of pressure is applied on the front.

I knew for my install I'd have to make some modifications however this was a solid foundation for the project and the end results were worth it.
