Ellery G: Beautiful cookbook with gorgeous photos of every recipe covering every meal option including snacks and drinks. This is a deep dive into incredible food inspired by the Blue Zones of the world. Blue Zones are areas where centenarians thrive as a by-product of their good health, nutrition, culture and vitality. Some of the recipes are featured in Season 1 of Jamie's Super Food series which can also be purchased through Amazon Prime Video. The recipes are fresh, simple and provide good choices for great food that you can feel good about serving.
This is, hands down, my favorite cookbook since Thug Kitchen entered the cookbook scene - and I highly recommend all of their cookbooks too!

Nan Crystal Arens: Full disclosure: We are big Jamie Oliver fans. We have been trying to make little changes toward healthier eating for years so the philosophy of this book is spot on for us. We like that there is nutritional and portion information with each recipe. Some complain about the small portions, but we've found them super satisfying. Living in a rural community, we have a challenge finding some ingredients, but substitutions are easy to find. We've tried six recipes so far and they are all lovely. We fed the squash daal to our vegetarian friends last night and got excellent reviews. Best of all, our kids (ages 10 and 12) love all of the dishes we've tried. My 12-year-old even paged through the book and found a couple of recipes that she wanted to try herself. She's enjoying the cooking and the eating. My favorite part: The nutritious, high protein, low sugar snacks are revolutionizing what I pack to send to sports practice.

LauraD: I bought this book in the hope of finding some healthy snacks and meals to compliment a new gym and better overall nutrition programme, I haven't been disappointed and I'm amazed by some of the 1-star reviews on here. For me, finding good alternatives to crisps, chocolate and even normal boring fruit has been a godsend. I agree that some of the recipes have long lists of ingredients, and yes, you can probably buy cheaper alternatives in the supermarket (i.e. buy Nakd bars rather than make the vegan date and seed bars), but there is a sense of accomplishment, in my opinion, to making your own and taking some control of your diet. If an ingredient doesn't work for me or suit my diet I simply change it, though I'm yet to come across anything unhealthy - everyone seems to have a different definition of unhealthy. I'd say it depends on your opinion and expectations of good nutrition. I'm fine eating dairy, meat and fish and wouldn't want to exclude them form my diet at this time. I needed to eat more nuts etc and this has been a great way to incorporate this in. The snacks like the vegan bars, the apricot, ginger and sesame energy balls and the cocoa and sesame energy balls have been a...

Purpleheart: I'm a big fan of Jamie Oliver, have most of his books and have cooked from them a lot. I found his 30 minutes Jamie's 30-Minute Meals: A Revolutionary Approach to Cooking Good Food Fast and 15 minutes Jamie's 15-Minute Meals cookbooks great for encouraging me to put real food on the table mid week, rather than eating too many ready meals. I like his reliable recipes and flavours and his sheer enthusiasm is very infectious. Now that Jamie is 40 he is so focused on health that he says 'the ultimate promise in these pages is that every recipe choice is a healthy choice.'
Jamie's new focus is anti-sugar and this is something that I've placed huge emphasis myself over the last ten years or so. I follow a low GI approach, eat protein at every meal and snack and aim for good fats and complex carbs and the type of balanced plate that he advocates here. He suggests:
* vegetables and fruit - 1/3 of your plate
* starchy carbs - 1/3 of your plate
* Protein - 1/6 pf your plate
* Dairy foods and milk - 1/6 of your plate
* Fat/Sugar high foods - Try to eat only a small amount of food high in food high in fat and/or sugar
Though I'm surprised that he...

KMKM: I am a big fan of Jamie Oliver and I was so pleased to hear the premise of this new book was around super foods and balanced eating; not low calorie foods but making nutritionally balanced meals that will still bring you in under your recommended calories for the day. Perfect.
I have posted a full RECIPE LIST at the end of this review for those wondering what kind of recipes are in the book.
I have to start this review with a summary in that I really do love this book, it’s a wonderful addition to my (growing) collection of Jamie’s books, plus I know that I should be eating a bit better and this book really has sincerely given me a fresh burst of inspiration… I made one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had in a long time from this book (Skinny Carbonara)... without cream.
Before actually trying it I wasn't sure if I would be ok with replacing the cream in my carbonara with natural yoghurt (and a few other changes), but honestly it was an absolute dream, the skinny carbonara tasted fresh and light and was still filling (thanks to the whole wheat pasta). You can tell these recipes are really well researched and thought through but it tasted so good...
