Sam Gummy: I have the worst Combo Washer dryer ever designed. Its an all in oneLG small unit. If you have been drying stuff and it finishes it wiill lock you out while it cools down. Since i know the stuff wont be dry and i need to add more time, i have to unlpug it and wait 3 minutes and plug it back in so i can open the door to check and start another dry cycle. I have a plug like this on my coffee machine. These have a lighted switch (its catch 22) that allow current thru when off to light the switch! This tells the machine its still getting juice so the machine wont reboot at unless i remove the plug altogether

JeannieJeannie: I power the PSUs for my laptop and the Thunderbolt hub from a power strip mounted to the side of the night stand by my desk where I can easily reach it from my desk without moving heavy furniture or crawling through the knee hole in my desk to reach a wall outlet (I'm too old and decrepit for that nonsense!).

I power up the Thunderbolt hub PSU only when I need to use it. Rather than horse around with plugging and unplugging the power plug for the hub's PSU, creating an arc each time and eventually wearing out the outlet (not to mention my back) or damaging the plug, I installed one of these. It works great! It looks a bit odd but the convenience far outweighs that.

The plug blades of the switch were a little looser than I liked, making it too easy to unplug the switch when unplugging a tight plug from it so I just used some double sided adhesive dots to secure the switch to the power strip when the switch is plugged in. I can still get the switch off if I ever need to by using some "gentle" persuasion (like a pry bar) but, otherwise, it stays put when unplugging the PSU plug.
