Iain R: I've had a couple of different 'budget' snuffle mats before (or rather, my dogs have). You know the kind, nice bright colours, probably some slightly nonsensical made-up brand name, cheap. They've been fine and they did the job.

But to celebrate the arrival of my new pup I thought I'd treat us to a posher version, to see if there was any difference...

Yes, there is. This one is ethically manufactured, which is a big plus of course. But it's also noticeably good quality as soon as you pick it up. And yes, it does exactly what it's supposed to, providing minutes of happy snuffling even for a Common Hoover-faced Labrador.

It has a really nice weight to it, which ensures that it lies flat and doesn't move around. There isn't a non-slip backing to it, it simply relies on the weight of the fabric, but on wooden flooring neither the enthusiastic pup nor I have had any issues with it slipping.

The material feels really nice in the hand, which doesn't matter a bit from a practical point of view, but is just a 'nice to have'.

The curled 'fronds' of the mat hold dry kibble well and don't get clogged up with food dust or bits. They are also super tough,...

CSG: I have had this snuffle mat for over a year. Both my dog and I still love it! My girl loves to eat and I'm a fan of anything that slows her down. I primarily use the mat to help my dog settle down. It usually keeps her busy for ~10 minutes. I wish there were larger sizes available. I usually throw it in the wash weekly and it has held up well. I highly recommend this mat.

Poxious: Got it for my 1yo Aussie- it took her less than two minutes to realize she could just pick the thing up and shake it, food/treats flying everywhere.
She was very proud of herself and needless to say loves the darn thing, but I am returning it: 40 dollars for her to shake it and tear it up happily? nope.
Unless you can somehow put weights on it there is no fix I can think of. She does love it and other breeds may find success, so still 4 stars.

Marc: In theory this product is great and my dog seemed to enjoy it. If I had to criticize…
1. It’s a bit on the small size, especially for bigger dogs
2. It could use something to secure it better to the floor (double sided tape or similar maybe)
3. It could definitely use some kind of rim or edge to keep bits from spilling to the floor.
These are merely suggestions to improve, no complaints about it as is.
