Our neighbor has this item so we were immediately able to tell it was not working correctly. The picture we've included shows the thin wire holding the butterfly is twisted, causing the butterfly to not move around properly. The case also appeared to be cracked open making us wonder if this was returned previously for the same reason and someone had tried to pry the case open - unsuccessfully.***UPDATE*** Rec'd a replacement and our cat immediately started playing with it this time versus running from the originally received product. This time, no damage or defects were noted.

My kitty LOVES this ball. Of all the toys she has had, this is one she keeps going back to time after time. The picture is blurry because it is an action shot. She pushes her head under it to get it going, pounces, swats and just sits and watches it a bit before doing it all over again. It will sit for weeks, then she is back at it. This is my second ball, the first one I dropped while changing the batteries. It still works, I just had to tape up the dome because it opened a crack and the butterfly would get stuck. I only bought a second one so I’d at least have a back up! Oh, and they do vary. Some have flowers and grass, the first one I had did not.

This is awful. I purchased two for cats at a shelter for enrichment. My thought was that if Jackson Galaxy endorsed this, it would be great. It is not. The globe is in two pieces and easily breaks apart. The pieces also do not go back together flush. You need glue or duct tape
The first I bought arrived broken apart in the box. The second broke about three days after the cats began playing with it. The grass inside is really thin and looks cheap. The butterfly is also very fragile and is on a tiny fine wire.
The battery aspect provides very little movement to the ball. The cats hand more fun playing with the exposed butterfly when the ball broke than the ball itself intact.
I was very disappointed on this product.

My eldest cat loves this product. She is the kind of cat that doesn’t need a lot of interaction with a product but when she does feel like playing with something, this is perfect for her.
Some reviews said that their cat wasn’t interested in this product but that doesn’t make it a bad product. It just means that they need to find the right toy to match their cat’s personality. It took me a while to find the right kind of toys for my cat, and this product is one that matches her energy level.
The price is right for the product and is quite durable. My youngest kitty— who is pretty rough with every toy, even played with it and the product held up just fine. This toy is prefect for both high energy cats and cats who just want a little stimulation from time to time.
The ball has an energy saving mode and even when it’s ‘on’, it will only activate when it’s touched. The battery has lasted a long time and really depends on how much your cat wants to play with it. I got a pretty beat up version of this toy. Sure, I ordered the repackaged option, but I didn't expect that many deep scratches, cracks, glue residue, and dead batteries. But that's on Amazon, not the toy. The toy itself is cute and interesting and my cats like to look at it, however they lose interest because they can't actually catch the butterfly. Not that I'm saything that they should, I just think that they're used to catching actual bugs and this toy doesn't satisfy their thrill of the hunt. It still keeps them busy for a bit, so that's something, not worth the original price though. The butterfly has a timer that makes it flutter, but when the ball isn't being wobbled, the butterfly stops. That's great for battery life, but if your cat, or you, don't at least tilt the ball, the butterfly won't keep the luring attention of your cat. They hunt by movement and if it's standing still, they move on. This toy is probably better for kittens and breeds who have lots of energy, not my lazy, cuddle killers.

Okay just in the first ten minutes of them trying to figure it out, I can tell you this is the best cat toy I’ve ever owned. I’ve never seen either of my cats so excited or curious especially over a cat toy. Anyone who doesn’t give this five stars is just finding something to complain about. It’s good quality, not too loud (it makes me laugh when I do hear it), you can turn it on and off it’s got a battery save mode after not moving for a minute, it’s not too big, and it’s just funny and cute and easy. Little pricey but it’s so worth the money your cats will love this. You will not be left disappointed and neither will your kitties!!!
