Realize the Instant Pots tend to be on the heavy side for safety reasons. Most likely to avoid accidental tipovers by kids. For short &/or elderly, try finding a spot lower than the kitchen counter to place it.

Conspicuous Consumer: My Crockpot/Slow Cooker broke so I thought I would try a pressure cooker instead of replacing it with another slow cooker.

I had no pressure cooker experience but I did research and watched a bunch of videos. At 7.5 quarts it is one of the largest pressure cookers I could find. I found several 8qt cookers, but they were all taller and deeper. After looking at all options, the Rio Wide format with the wider shallower pot seemed to be obviously the best pressure cooker. I was confused as to why anyone would even make a taller narrower pot. But what do I know, I have no pressure cooker experience. So I bought the Rio Wide.

Now that I've had it for a couple of months and used about 10 times, I can say pressure cooking is the real deal. You can fully cook frozen chicken breasts in 12 minutes. You can fully cook dried beans and peas in 10-30 minutes with no soaking.

And after using the Rio Wide, I can say that I cant imagine why anyone would choose a taller narrower pot over the Rio Wide pot. Features-wise, the Rio Wide works well, has a good user interface, and has what appears to be safer steam release than any other mechanism I've seen.

Jata 2: Always intended to buy an instant pot but put it off because I was accustomed to using a stove top one that would obtain a 15psI pressure & cook faster than electric ones which don't. But I discovered that this Instant Pot Max model does ! The only one in their line that does. Tested it out & indeed it does reach 250 F or 15psi. Very happy about that. The controls are also much easier on this MAX model to navigate & understand. Very simple. The only downside is that the so called silicone sealing ring had a toxic plastic smell to it after completing two 15 min water tests with it. Silicone is supposed to be odourless. So I ordered two different types of sealing rings that claimed to be genuine silicone & tested them out too & found the same thing. Horrible plastic smell. So I researched this problem & found a solution. If you bake your new silicone rings in a 350 degree F oven for 1 hour, it will take away that odour. For the colored off brand rings I bought as a replacement after the warranty is up, I had to bake them for two hrs at that temperature to completely remove the odour. So now I'm happy that I can use my new pressure cooker without any toxic...

Kieran McCarty: I was looking at Instant Pots and was considering getting the mini (3qt) because I live alone but several reviews said (and I confirmed with a few searches) that most of the accessories available only fit the 6qt or 8qt sizes. Since I wanted to maximize the Pot's utility, that was important. Then, when I saw an Amazon Warehouse deal on a 6 qt Ultra -- top of the line! -- for less than the regular price of the Mini Duo that had fewer features, I jumped on it. It said it had significant visual flaws on the lid, but I didn't really care as long as it functioned properly. Well, the flaws are on the inside of the lid and are barely noticeable, so I feel like I got a terrific bargain.
It doesn't take more than a couple minutes to get to full pressure and start the cooktime, and the steam release button works very rapidly.
Though i haven't yet decided on what accessory set[s] to buy, I know at least I want a springform pan: I kluged a form to make a cheesecake in this device, as it is the easiest bain marie, and I was amazed to find it came out really well (it looked pretty wobbly right out of the pot, but it firmed up nicely in the refrigerator). JEAL16: La olla es simplemente excelente. Un defecto es que el manual de operación viene en inglés, considero importante que en adelante se generen manuales en español. En algunos nuevos modelos ya se han generado estos manuales pues encontré de otros modelos en internet.

Se pueden hacer verduras al vapor en sólo 6 minutos, quedan deliciosos y con una consistencia inigualable. El arroz queda hecho por grano, no se pega y no queda pastoso ni acuoso, también queda en sólo cuestión de minutos.

Los programas están diseñados para que la comida quede en su punto si se siguen las medidas y la cantidad de agua recomendada.

Se puede utilizar tanto a presión como con la tapa abierta según lo que se desea preparar.

Viene con una taza para medidas, así como con cuchara y pala, además de una rejilla para hacer comida al vapor.

Algo que es un poco desagradable es que el empaque que va en la tapa se impregna del olor de los alimentos que se preparen y el olor se queda, pero existen repuestos de empaques que se pueden adquirir aunque un poco caros, de modo que se puedan utilizar para ciertos tipos de alimentos sin perjudicar la preparación de otros de...

Maria Gonzalez: Tengo un par de cosas que compartir sobre esta olla. Esta olla estuvo en mi carrito de compras fácil 6-8 meses. Me interesaba, me latía mucho comprarla pero no estaba segura, pues es considerablemente cara y dudaba si me sería realmente útil, además de que en aquel entonces no cocinaba y puesto que es la versión más cara de Instant pot tampoco estaba segura si realmente valdría la pena comparada con las otras versiones. Pues un buen día, la vi con una muy buena oferta y decidí comprarla. Y después de usarla aproximadamente un mes esta es mi experiencia:

A) Funcionabilidad: No es por el tiempo es por la liberdad
Personalmente a mi me encantan las cosas que me dan libertad. Anuncian mucho esta olla como que te ayuda a "cocinar más rápido", "reducir el tiempo en la cocina" y cosas así, lo cual es verdad y no. Si, el arroz esta en 12 minutos, pero toma aproximadamente otros 15 min en presurizarse, y por ello es común encontrar opiniones negativas al respecto. I have to confess that I had a stove top pressure cooker a long time ago and have not used one in a while. I have been out of the loop on the Instant Pot electric pressure cookers too which is a blessing in that I followed my instincts and bought the Ultra without making the mistake of trying to save a few bucks for the Duo series.

Like going to the car dealer for a new car, think of the Instant Pot line of cookers the same way., The Lux is the base model, the Duo is the model up from the base and the Duo Plus two models up from the base and the Ultra is the fully loaded model. Just like the car dealer, - more features means more money. With a street price of $149.00 for the Ultra, you can be patient and find them on sale from time to time. However, in any case $149.00 is a good price for what this cooker can do for you. If you use this cooker you will make up the cost of in saving on not eating out as much. The food you can cook is that good.
