Amazon Customer: I was so excited to separate my baby guppies from the mommas and put an injured fish in the other chamber. BUT...

First of all, you can't separate any chambers without the breeder attachment in the bottom. I worked around it and stacked both separators in the middle in order to form a wall high enough to separate into 2 chambers. One side had baby guppies and the other had an injured fish. It was tricky, but I managed. BUT...

Next thing I know the breeder tank was at the bottom of my fish tank. All but 3 babies were eaten and my injured fish was beat up so badly, it died a couple days later. So I decided to use the breeder attachment in the bottom to keep the babies at the bottom and put 2 pregnant fish in the top portion and used the 3rd chamber to temporarily hold a "bully" fish. BUT...

As others complained, the breeder piece floats up, not leaving room for the fish in the top. Tried to get as much of the trapped air out of the bottom attachment as I could but ended up just putting a couple rocks/ ornaments on it to weigh it down. BUT...

When the fish in the upper part were crowded from the bottom piece floating up, the bully fish managed to jump in...

emmet: i like this box, it's a good size and shape and my babies have not escape. however- i had to add extra suction cups supporting the bottom, the two it comes with are not strong enough and i lost fry once when it fell off and they all got loose.

bradley harrison: I didn't check the measurements properly and bought this based on the picture. It looks a lot bigger in the pictures but if you take out all of the inside components you can use it as a place to keep sick or injured fish.

SB: Great little breeder box, just what I needed. The lid isn’t that great but stays on ok. The slots for water flow aren’t too big and don’t let the little babies escape!

MelanieMelanie: For the past few days, I had Danios babies who were being eaten by adults. So I rushed to look for an incubator for the little ones. After having looked at several types of nurseries, my choice was to stop on this one for the following reasons:

- Larger than the majority of the nurseries on the market.
- Possibility to put the mother in isolation.
- Safety of the babies since the eggs fall in a sub-tank under the mother.
- Spaces between insulation slots of 0.5 mm while the majority are 1 mm.

After use, I like:
- Allows me to deposit my Corydoras eggs in the nursery.
- The flexibility of being able to remove the separators.
- The slots on the top allowing to feed the fish.
- That it floats well and the possibility to fix it wherever you want.
- Very clear design, which allows to see well inside.

What I like less:
- The suction cups need to be carefully put in place taking care to remove air bubbles.

Personally, I did not put the mother in isolation since the young are already young alvins. I have therefore placed a few natural plants so they can grow peacefully in an environment that is safe for them

sapph1retw1n: As with many plastics, if it isn't thick enough, then it can break. This item arrived cracked on the W funnel, but since my guppies had started giving birth already, I chose not to return it.

Now that we've had the product for approximately 2 months, I feel that I can review it a little better.
PROS
*The hatchery as a whole is sturdy and does its job.
*The super-slim isolation gaps keep the fry inside the hatchery as designed.
*The W funnel does its job of increasing the survival rate of the fry (baby guppies). (Note: the crack in the W funnel we received does not appear to have increased in size.)
*The suction cups are strong

CONS
*The suction cups still lose their suction when enough water pressure builds up (i.e. from the aquarium bubbler below it).
*The feeding holes only cover the outer two "rooms" when both partitions are inserted, so you still have to remove the cover to ensure the middle room's occupant is fed.
*The suction cups also push the hatchery away from the aquarium's side, and by doing so, the hatchery's base is pushed against the side, creating a gap that the fry can get stuck in.

Unfortunately, my guppy mommas do not...

Banger: I had a number of female guppies ready to explode and needed an additional hatchery box because the one I had was pretty small and didn't have any separation dividers to keep the other mommas from nipping at one an other and gobbling up the fry as they popped out of the other females. Got this, put it in the tank, set up the dividers and threw in three pregnant guppies. By the end of the next day all them delivered their fry safely to the bottom compartment. Definitely worth it, solved my probs. Excellent product and great service! Will buy from again!

MUDMUD: We purchased the Petzilla Aquarium Fish Breeder box (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XK132FT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_OAbkCb7Q18TSJ) for use with small platty and bristle nose plecos. The slats on the side are perfectly sized to prevent the little ones from swimming out into the big tank.

In the picture, the Petzilla Aquarium Fish Breeder box is on the right. The smaller one on the left is a Lee's Two-Way Guppy Breeder box (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002APRK6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_j4akCbK0FDZQG). Both have the inside dividers removed as we only placed babies in when we found them in the main tank. I've also used a XMHF breeder net (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0795X2TKT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_kCbkCb7HB0AE8) but not in the attached picture. Below is a comparison of all three:

SIZE:
Petzilla is larger in size which reduces crowding as the babies grow. If you have a smaller tank, the Lee's may be the better choice. Breeder nets are available in many sizes including larger than both boxes.

SLATS/OPENINGS:
Petzilla side openings are smaller so we have not had any babies swim out into the main tank.
Lee's has slightly larger side slats/opening a which allows for...
