Brenda: This is an essential condiment in our kitchen. Unfortunately, it's not available to buy any more, and I'm not convinced it ever will be again. Siracha is a little tricky, but Sambal is a snap to make at home. Here's what you need:
One pound of red peppers. Choose your heat level, from mild to hot in this order: Ripe Jalapenos, Serrano, Cayenne, Thai Chili pepper. I use a mix.
2 TB rice vinegar
2 cloves garlic
1Tb salt
1 tsp lime juice
Remove the stems from the peppers and throw it all in a food processor (or blender, if you have a good one, like Vita Mix) and grind until it's the consistency you like. That's it. Put it in a jar and keep it in the fridge if you won't use it all in the next 3 or 4 days.
If you like milder Sambal, use mostly Jalapeno or Serrano peppers. You can also take out the seeds, but I never bother. If it's too pasty, add a little more vinegar, if it's too runny, drain some of the liquid off. It's a five minute job, and beats overpaying the profiteers who are marking up Sambal and Siracha to astronomical levels.

Scott R.: I was out of sambal olek and sriracha and was looking to buy more. I couldn't find it at the local grocery store so I went looking on Amazon. Of course, they had it but the price was outrageous. After reading up a bit I now know why - a chili shortage due to a bad growing season in Mexico. So, because of supply and demand, price of both products went into the stratosphere. I bought it anyway because I could afford it and I really like the flavor. Hopefully this year they'll have a better growing season and the price will be more reasonable. If you want it now (Spring 2023) buy it while you can find it, otherwise wait until next year and hope the price will come down and will be in the grocery stores again.
