Hunter XC800I X-Core 8-Station Indoor Sprinkler System Controller

MikeR: Removal of the old unit and installing the new replacement controller was the most difficult part. There are 8 connections for irrigation zone valves plus 2 for the rain sensor and 2 for AC power. Since this was a replacement, I took a picture to ensure that the zone sequence was retained. The wires were originally cut to exact length in some cases, so the re-attachment was a bit challenging. Otherwise, all went well. Of course, the new controller needed to be programmed. First, I tested each zone to be sure that the valves were working. Then I followed instructions to replicate the original program (the settings were available due to my wife's insistence on record-keeping ).

R. T.: Bought this to replace my 15 year+ old unit where the control knob broke. Other than the screw holes being aligned slightly different (about 1/32") installation was uneventful - hardest part was tagging all the wires to keep track of which wire controlled which zone.

Definitely recommend.

Kindle CustomerKindle Customer: I had to replace my original Hunter X-Core but wanted the exact same one. Well the one I had was a 2013 model and this new one is the newer updated version but it operates the exact same way as the original one did. Super easy to install and program. Just take a picture of the original one, unplug the power supply, unscrew all.your wires, remove the old controller, then run run your wires the exact same way you took them off using the picture you took. All in all, it took me about 10 minutes to hook it up, another 5 to program it.

John J. Richmond: I got it to replace a Toro which I found difficult to program. There are very good videos on this model. I found the owner’s manual unsatisfactory.

I took me a while to set it up but I did it with a little help from my neighbor.

Derek DDerek D: My previous unit was over 21 years old and was unreliable, meaning it wouldn't always follow the program. This unit was an almost straight across install. Be sure to take a photo of your wires so you keep your irrigation zones in the proper order. Otherwise it was a very simple install which took about an hour at most.

It was very simple to program, maybe a little easier than my previous one.I did a test run and it is working great.

4 Stars because the LED readout could be a bit larger and easier to read.

Tom Cholewinsky: Bought this unit specifically due to it having a "delay between zones" feature... I am on a well and have 8 zones, without a delay in between I ran risk of sucking well dry.

Otherwise it is identical to the older Hunter version I had, so wiring in the new one was like for like which was nice.
