Will: After wearing MSA company issued helmets, and a couple of the cheapo HDPE ones from Amazon, this has been by far my favorite hard hat. Much lighter than HDPE, suspension is very comfortable and has height adjustment for the band to fit most sized heads. I have a big melon and it sits right down low on me, and I can sinch her down in high winds without it being uncomfortabl. I also have long hair, and this hat does not pull my hair anything like the MSA or other cheap options, even after adjustments

Eric W: Everything about the hard hat was what I’ve come to expect of a Fibre-Metal product. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is a bit of a disapointment in where it comes from, that is Mexico, all other Fibre-Metal products I have or have have were made in Canada or the USA.

This IS fiberglass, though not like the Skullgard many are familiar with.
Having been in the oilfield and now chemical industries, I've worn many "hats". The Fibre Metal is 'injection molded' fiberglass (google it, it's really a thing) and these hats are thinner, a bight lighter, and much stronger and more ridgid than their HDPE counterparts. They are also much less likely to have chunk taken out of them (and DQ'ed by your local safety person) from a head-knocker etc. Unless you really get rocked, these can take some lighter blows without showing obvious wear or tear. They're also much stiffer and more rigid than plastic, as well.
I've read many reviews stating "meh, they're just plastic" which is pure ignorance.
If they were just plastic why would Fibre Metal make both versions? These are the same type f material as a quality polymer toolbox (like my Dewalt gang box) or tote... where you can see the variations in the polymer material... they're just more subtle in this case. You've heard of "glass filled nylon"? That's kind of what I think they mean.
All in all you will get what you pay for here... an edge in protection, added...

Jen: My husband loves it. Main things he has said about it are: It seems to be very well made, it's lighter than his old one (3M), the suspension is more comfortable. He likes the flat black color. He's already had half a dozen guys ask him where he got it (less than a week)

GoneFishin': I've had this hat for 2 weeks now and I love it. It rides low on the head so you don't look like a goof ball and it's really lite and comfortable. I have had 4 compliments on the hat in the short time I've had it and three coworkers have ordered one for themselves of various colors after trying mine on.
