Spinks429: I wouldn't list these as Votives. More like tea lights. They're absolutely tiny. I was going to use them in my votive holders but they look ridiculous. However, I also needed votives for an outside project & they seem to work perfect for that so that's why I gave 4 stars. They're brighter than I would've thought for their size so that's also why I gave them 4 stars. If you're needing these for regular votive holders though, find something else. Otherwise they work great!

EmJay: I've tried a few others and found their light to be either too yellowy (most commonly) or too cool - but these are more realistic - quite close to light from a wax-and-wick flame in a side-by-side comparison. The switches are not stiff to operate. The black switch can be seen from the outside (from the side but not from above) when lit but the main battery casing doesn't show. There are a couple of white ribs which can be seen running down the inside. As I plan to use them inside ceramic village houses, this won't matter. I can't comment on their longevity except to say that other reviewers seem to find that battery life is excellent.
