PS: My wife is a nurse practitioner we were able to do this at home. Pretty easy.

Rusty_013: I didn't feel comfortable injecting my dog myself so I took him to the vet to have it done. They told me that this is one of the older versions with the bigger needle and they use a smaller needle version now. My littlean was a trooper and didn't even budge but I sure felt bad about it. It was definitely cheaper than spending $45 at the vet though and if you are comfortable doing it yourself you will save even more. I entered my dogs into on the site and called the vet and they confirmed they could see everything. I didn't have to pay anything else at the Home Again site. I don't know if that is because I already had an account with them from my previous dog or what. I definitely feel a bit better having my little guy chipped.

LLeo: I have the Sure Feed feeders, so I have to use the HomeAgain microchips for my cats. I live in a small town that only has one vet office administering the HA brand, but I will not use this vet office since they do not use a topical numbing agent and charge $50 for the injection. Yes, $20 of the $50 is for the HA fee, but really, no thing to numb the skin?!? My vet office said they would be happy to do the injection for me if I brought in my own HA chip. I found this one on Amazon ready to inject, including multiple microchip # stickers, the HA yellow collar tag, the HA plastic card to write the chip # on, and the papers/instruction to register the pet with HA. My vet administered the injection for me during an office visit where they did numb her skin. When I received my bill they did not charge a penny to do so, it wasn't even listed on my invoice. So now all I have to do is register her chip and details, and pay their registration fee.

Sandy Beach: I’ve been with Home Again for 12 of my pets, countless fosters I’ve taken in, and for over 15 years; I prefer them over other companies because they are the only company to have an anti-migrating mechanism on their chips. While other companies chips lack this mechanism, potentially allowing the chip to migrate into different parts of your animals body,( i.e. their shoulders or ribs) thus making it more difficult to scan and easier to miss in the event that your animal finds themselves in possession of animal control. I’ve never had a Home Again chip migrate. I’ve used 24 hour pet watch and Petlink on 2 of my animals, both chips migrated and we ended up re-chipping with Home Again.
I purchased this chip because I recently had my dog spayed through a low cost spay/neuter clinic but I didn’t like the microchip company they offered through their clinic. They agreed to implant this one if I brought it in. If the chip is implanted correctly you should not be able to feel it or even tell it’s there. Your pet won’t notice either.
Shipping & delivery was much faster than they said it would be. Product arrived in great condition, sterile packaging, with a tag and the...

primie: I live in NYC and microchipping at the vet costs $150 (⊙_⊙). I was surprised since I was paying around $35-$40 in California not too long ago. I came across this kit as I was searching for a less expensive alternative. I implanted the microchip on my 6lb dog by myself. Its easy if you're somewhat familiar with needles and giving injections. The needle is a bit larger than expected (probably 14G-15G).

Info/Tips:

- The chip I received is 15-digit 134.2 kHz type which is ISO standard-compatible (used by the rest of the world outside the US) and, I believe, made by Destron Fearing. It can be read by universal microchip scanners in the US. I like this because I travel internationally with my dog a lot. The photo on Amazon shows a kit with a 10-digit chip- its not what you will receive. The chip # is 985xxxxxxxxxxxx (first 3 digits specific to the manufacturer).

- The kit comes with HomeAgain registration form and a yellow collar tag with chip# on it but no need to register with HomeAgain and pay the fee (17.99 then annually if you want to continue the 'extras'). I had 2 other dogs registered with HomeAgain and never used their service (in the city, dogs dont...
