Prof. JV: Just installed an 8-foot section today. They are made with a heavy gauge steel so they'll last a lifetime. Installing them was easy. They even come with mounting screws (2.5-inch exterior deck screws). The only downside is the peg straps that come with it. They're unsightly, making a nice installation look sloppy. I used different peg holders instead. If you really want a nicely organized and somewhat attractive garage, using a combination of narrow strips like these and full panels (16" x 32") and both slat hooks and traditional 1/4" pegs, this is the way to go, but the costs sure add up quickly.

Frank Rizzo: Storage and organization is a real challenge, so I was excited to find the holey rail product. Based on the positive reviews and the fact that it's such a simple and relatively inexpensive solution, I put up 6x 4ft lengths in my garage.

There wasn't much in the way of instructions, but there also wasn't much needed as it's a really simple product. It was easy to install and looks good once installed.

My frustration comes from the peg system itself: They simply don't stay attached and you have to strap every single one down or it ends up being one time use. A word of caution: Amazon suggested a stanley pack of 1/8" hooks to buy with it. Unfortunately those hooks are really thin and barely stay attached. I highly recommend getting only 1/4" hooks, and even then they really don't stay attached well. Yes I made them work and they don't pop out once strapped, but it never really feels very secure.

Additionally, the hooks that are available aren't terribly strong and tend to bend quite easily under the load of a shovel or even a bunch of coiled up electrical cords. In my last home I used the John Sterling Tap Mount System (also available at Amazon) which is similar...

P. S. Waters: I found the Holeyrail just in time. I was planning on getting one of the track kits (probably spending $150-250 with all of the needed hooks) when I stumbled upon this on Amazon. Just put it up last night, and it's AMAZING. I won't go into all of the other things that other comments have already touched on...just know that my only regret is I only got 2 rails - I could have easily used another 1 or 2.

My only complaint - the supposed "self-threading" screws they included were just simple 1" bolts. And, like another commenter stated, they don't seem to do anything as they don't fit in the holes.

As for the commenters complaining about hooks not being included - I am HAPPY hooks are not included. I am happy to spend the $35 (incl. shipping) for rails without hooks, then spend $15 at Harbor Frieght for the hooks I need. This beats the option of spending $50 on the Holeyrail, to get hooks that don't work for what I need included. Then I still need to spend another $15 for hooks elsewhere, and then be stuck with the included hooks I'll never use.

I am so happy with my purchase, I'll likely be purchasing a few more sets for Christmas presents later this year.

Shantastic: I bought two of the Holeyrails and they are a really cool idea. They are easy to install with a stud finder, screw gun and a level. When mounted properly, they hold a lot. Please note that I would NOT use drywall hangers, even the heavy duty ones to mount this. Find at least two studs and drive a couple deck screws into them. I have a couple dozen items hanging from them including a smart ladder and it has no problem supporting all of it.

The Holeyrail uses standard peg board hooks and note: IT DOES NOT COME WITH ANY HOOKS! So understand that you will need to purchase those separately. The rail does come with some clever little "holders" that help keep the peg board hooks in place, which is nice.

My one complaint is that the rail will bend very easily if you even slightly over-tighten a screw while mounting...especially on the end. It does indicate this in the instructions but it is not emphasized enough. I started the hanging process and mounted one of the end holes into a stud and slightly over-tightened the first screw and the rail flattened a tiny bit. I realized this quickly so the bending was very minimal. But, if you have a screw gun or drill with some power,...
