Joseba Arano: Really inspiring book. As expert on change management in organization and having heard before about holacracy, Robertson’s book is very clear and detailed about the framework and how to deploy it in the organization. A great discovery to share with peers and the team and to think deeply about it

Leandro Caniglia: Companies are populated with professionals of diverse fields: engineers, software developers, economists, designers, architects, salespeople, administrators, etc., etc. However, in most cases, what we see are decision makers who improvise in everything related to the way their companies function. This is a flagrant contradiction: experienced specialists in specific domains in charge of organizing human creativity and labor with no rigorous background whatsoever on modern ways of establishing the very processes that govern their companies. This book is for those who think that processes that support professional and human relationships cannot be learned from simple tradition and would like to open their minds to other ways of designing the enterprise.

Ian Mann:
Research shows that every time the size of a city doubles, innovation or productivity per resident increases by 15%. When companies get bigger, either their innovation or productivity per employee generally deceases.
“In today’s post-industrial world,” author Brian Robertson explains, “organizations face significant new challenges: increasing complexity, enhanced transparency, greater interconnection, shorter time horizons, economic and environmental instability, and demands to have a more positive impact on the world.”
The problem is not only that we don’t change fast enough, but that the employees sense this dissonance, and they don’t like it. Most have at least a vague sense that organizations seem designed not to get the best out of them.
The quest for stability and success was believed to lie in up-front planning, centralized control, and deviation prevention. This model worked well enough in the simple and static environments of the industrial age.
This book deals with the restructuring of organizations. It is not that we haven’t tried to restructure our organizations, we most definitely have tried, but we haven’t succeeded...

Andrea, Jole, Giugiu e Lilli:

Steve Blumberg: This is a great new paradigm for how organizations can operate, and I think it represents one model for what seems to be an emerging evolution of organizational design. I picked up on this title from another excellent book, available on Amazon: Re-inventing Organizations. My interest in this came from wondering why we give so much lip service to "peace," but apparently believe so little in it. My research around that topic led me literature, which jumps from the individual level of peace literature to the international level, with scarcely anything in-between. This kind of literature, along with systems theory and the organizational literature coming out of MIT (Scharmer, Senge, etc.) holds some promise of filling this gap. Holacracy additionally is the most specific description of how organizations can be build, which offer some realistic alternative to the institutions of war, with which we have been plagued for millenia. It is truly a part of our next evolutionary step as a species. Let's hope so anyway.

nomade0:
This book does a great job at showcasing Holacracy, a new management system that distributes authority and accountability throughout an organization instead of relying on managers to direct employees. What makes this book successful is that it includes both the "why" and the "how to" use Holacracy, all in a digestible read. Disclaimer: I work with HolacracyOne, the company developing the Holacracy model.
An aspect of Holacracy dear to me is that unlike current discourse on the matter, it doesn't put employees' and companies' interests back to back. Instead it proposes a system in which both personal autonomy and a fierce focus on the company's success are part of the same equation.
After years of hearing about Holacracy and reading bits and pieces about this rich model here and there, I can't recommend this book enough for anyone who wants the full story in one package.
