Adam: The difference between these component cables and the regular AV cables is night and day!
The image is now crystal sharp in comparison to previously, and I can actually read words on the screen without getting a headache.
Absolutely worth the buy if you're running an HDTV, and they shipped super fast too!

Dan Gardener: These do work well and will get the job done - buyer beware though there seems to be a circuting problem, anytime significant power is used in the home the image will disapear for a few seconds. Outside of that rare instance however, hard to complain.

Vincent Vazquez: This thing just comes in a plastic bag - the sticker on said bag has a barcode and reads simply, "Component A/V Cable for Playstation 2 - NEW". There's no company logo on the actual plug either; just the arrow on the top that shows you which side should be facing the top when you plug it into the PS2. While Amazon mentions the distributor, I have no idea who actually manufactures this thing. It says nothing of substance, which is unfortunate because this IS NOT plug-and-play, so to speak.
Here are the super-simple instructions it SHOULD have. You must first boot up your PS2 with the normal A/V cables without a disc in (or with the disc tray open), and go to 'System Configuration', than change your 'Component Video Out' settings from RGB to Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr. Now turn it off, plug in the Component Cable, turn it back on and go to the "Component" Video Mode on your HDTV - the PS2 picture will be coming in clear as a bell (that's a saying, right?) Why couldn't this have said that - just the slightest piece of paper with this crucial information!? Whoever made this is a lazy, suspicious manufacturer...
BUT IT WORKS! IT WORKS SO WELL! So I don't know why they're acting like...

V. Hoffman: I just got this cable yesterday and tested it out on my Y Pb Pr HDTV monitor (it's LG brand, if it makes any difference), for both Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy IX.
The display is noticeably better for both games, although of course since IX is a ps1 game, it's still pixelated/shows artifacts. XII looks great.
It works even though the monitor is Y Pb Pr (others said this would be a problem). I'm kind of a dunce, though - at first I thought it wasn't working ... until I realized I hadn't switched the input on the monitor to component! Oops. Went into the input menu on the monitor, flipped through to component, and voila: video and sound work again!
However, I do sometimes get an error message "out of range" on the monitor. It happens maybe 1/3 of the times I turn on the ps2, always either when I turn it on or switch from config to a game. Don't know what it means, but it's frustrating as I have to reset the ps2, change the ps2 config back to smooth texture mapping (since that setting doesn't 'stick'), and try again until it works.
If I find a way to fix the "out of range" issue, I'll update this review...and if anyone knows how to fix it, please...
