Gwenda P. Cooper: The socket cannot be used on all outlets because of the threaded bolt that goes between the outlets in the center screw hold. I'm sure it is needed for stablization as the socket is heavy especially when using the tray on the top. Also, the the USB ports are not strong enough to full charge an iPad. I handled by phone well but would not completely.

G. Hogan: This is a nice idea. I have wireless mesh routers in my house and this little shelf makes a perfect resting point for one of them. I don't have to put the router on the floor or take up space on an end table. On top of that I've got a bunch of extra sockets and USB power ports too. Finally I like that it screws into the wall socket, since it's semi-permanent for me I screwed it in so I don't have to worry about the plugs or shelf shifting when I use the open sockets.
