I put two Large All-Mountain full suspension bikes on it and it fit perfect. Definitely could fit 3 bikes on it easily. 4 bikes would work as well, BUT 4 full size large/x-large DH bikes might be a little too tight, doable, but tight. We both bad 2.35 tires and the rack size on the tires was a perfect fit. If you have bigger tires, you could bend these with some effort to work. Also my buddy had 29'ers and I was on 26's and the tires fit perfectly on both. I went to a local store that specializes in bike racks, cargo carriers etc. here in Seattle and they didn't have anything quite like this. And the options they presented were about $250 for just a cargo carrier or $550 for a hitch mounted lockable bike rack. And this carrier in my opinion is a better option than both of those, and cheaper with the versatility of both! To lock it up if you are going to a restaurant (brewery) after riding you will want a 5'-10' cable that you can run through the bike frames, tires and the rack. And make sure you have a locking pin to lock the carrier to your hitch...

RE: I purchased this from Amazon 2 years ago and waited to give a review until I'd used it some. Only a couple of times for bikes; mostly for travel. Its been from Iowa to North Carolina and back multiple times and has held up well. I've noticed a lot of complaints (assembly, size etc) that I will give my 2 Cents about.
1. Its heavy. I'm a 60 something 5 foot 6 inch overweight female. Yeah its heavy - its huge and metal. Which is what I wanted. I can move it around without any problems and here is how I attach it to my CRV by myself: I lift up the tongue and lean the bottom of the tongue against the bottom opening of the hitch receiver. Then I go around to the back - lift it up and slide it in. Easy-peasy. I did have some problems getting the holes to line up until I had some practice. - I put a mark on the tongue where it needs to be to line up and then found it works best to "jiggle" it until the holes line up.
2. Its hard to assemble. I took 15 minutes to read thru all instructions and lay out all the parts. It was very helpful to note in other reviews that 2 sizes of bolts were not labeled with different part numbers so that helped. After that it took me about 45 minutes to...
