Jeremy: I ordered this after looking long and hard for a workout tower that would not break my bank. The claim that this one held 600Lbs was to me a little ambitious but after reading the reviews I decided to take the plunge on this one. To be clear I ordered the all black model that has the 600Lbs claim with it and also is the one everyone is saying has poor assembly directions. So I will address both of those issues.
600Lbs capacity: While I don't know if this will actually support 600Lbs, I weigh 300Lbs and this thing supports me very well indeed. I can hang from any part of the structure and the station supports my weight with zero problems. Now obviously I am a big guy and this station will be part of changing that. With that said I cannot do a pull up or chin up by myself without support from a chair because of my weight to strength ratio so the bar is getting help from the chair. However I can just hang on the bar myself without any support and also I do pull myself up a little bit while hanging freely. That is a lot of trauma on this station and it doesn't budge. I have owned this for about a month.
I did ALOT of research before my purchase. There are tons of these power stations on Amazon and it is easy to end up with an unreliable product with little to no customer support as most of these sellers are based in China or asia.
Pros:
- ***Recessed back pad*** - I found this critical. Most other stations don't have this. When doing pulls ups (forward or back) having the recessed back gives alot more room for your body and legs. I read alot of negative feedback from competitor stations where their knees bang up on the back pad or feel too constricted. I can do pull ups either direction with no major issue.
- Sturdy/quality materials - These metal pieces are very durable. I have no concerns that something will bend or fail. Most connections are solid. As other reviewers point out, the dip bars/arms in the middle are a little wobbly side to side, because of the pin connector. But when working out properly, you should only be worried about up/down force which is well reinforced. Pads are fine as well.
