My pool is an in ground, pebble tech, salt water, and is 20x30' , 6' deep. It has the in floor pop up self cleaning heads. However, they do not keep up with the monsoon dirt (mud). I bought the 4 wheel drive model. I use it in conjunction with the in floor cleaners. So far it works great, when it comes up against an in floor head that's popped up it just turns and goes a different direction (it takes a few seconds to think about it, as it does when it hits a corner) it only climbs about 6 inches up the wall but that's just enough. My pump is a Hayward variable speed and I have it set on 80% with the largest intake installed in the machine. It trucks right a long at a pretty good pace. I've only had it a couple of days but so far it cleans great. Once the monsoon season ends I will remove it from the pool until next year. I'll report after a couple of months as to it's durability.

After our Hayward PoolVac XL finally broke after 6 years, I bought this to replace it. It takes a little adjusting with the different suction throats to get the right balance for the cleaner to move properly, but I figured that out after the second day (FWIW, I use the small port with a variable speed pump at 3000 rpm). I run it about 1 hour/ day at that speed and it does a pretty good job. Mine climbs the walls about half way (about the same as the old vac).
My neighbor has queen palm trees lining the back yard, and those darn little nuts it drops used to clog the old pool vac constantly. The flexible vanes on the turbine so far have not jammed on the palm nuts.

I have used a number of suction cleaners over 25 years. After 1 month of use, this model is by far the best. Pool is a concrete in ground pool about 30 feet long. It picks up hard leaves easily. It climbs the walls about a foot. Traverses the pool in a minute or two and its pattern is random. It comes with a dark blue hose, which I replaced with a white one. Uses its own suction line, not a skimmer line and has a leaf collection canister attached to the hose. Recommend.
After hurricane Irma, the pool was full of leaves, twigs and debris. The entire bottom was covered. We had to take out most of the leaves and big twigs by using a hand held net and collected about five garbage cans full of debris. The water was clear but there was a lot of dirt and leaves still on the bottom. The Aquanaut was off during the storm and when turned on, it was amazing how well it cleaned the pool. One must watch the cleaner as it can stop moving because twigs or leaves are caught in the intake. These have to be removed. The storm was over on Monday and we started on the pool on Thursday. After two days the pool was totally clear. I am very pleased

Alex: I have a 1.5 HP pump and with my floor drain closed and the skimmers closed I still cant get this thing to go up the walls....even with them closed I get about 11 RPM....in the range for it to go up the walls..not sure how anyone can get it to go 14 RPM or more....I thought about returning i, but with the $100 rebate I have decided to keep it since it does a great job of keeping the floor and the edges of my pool clean. It has never once got stuck on anything!!! I really do like it...I just wish it could clean the walls.

HH1799: Stopped working after less than 3 weeks. Followed manual insurrections but still just sat in pool and didn't move. Called customer service; referred me to website for authorized dealers. Firts 2 I went to did not work on this model. Called back, and asked for a replacement or refund. Was told Hayeard DOES NOT REPLACE OR REFUND! Useless warranty. Told me to go to a dealer 20 miles away, not even listed as one of their 87 authorized dealers.
Asked to speak to a supervisor, and never got a call back.
Amazon did the right thing and issued a refund after 30 days.
Kudos to Amazon. Hayward, you will never get another dollar from me ever again, You make a bad product, you don't-stand behind it and you have lost me as a customer forever by your rude arrogant behavior,
