Lis Thompson: My husband is a kitchen gadget guy, and after seeing a similar unit at our friend's place he had to have one. We hadn't been eating much rice prior, but with how easy it was to use we did start having more rice after our purchase. It's super easy to set it and forget it, the rice turns out great time after time. It also has a (very) small steamer basket that you can use to steam veggies — like 7-8 broccoli florets … not really all that useful. As a rice cooker, it's a champ; don't bother with trying to use it to steam veggies. Overall great for its primary use.

SewnBlessings: I needed a multi-cooker for rice, steamed vegetables, and hot cereal. This one is perfect! It's compact which made me doubt it could really make 12 cups of cooked rice, but it does. The steam that is released is slow so it doesn't condense under the cabinets, and the unit doesn't bubble over the sides like with glass lids with little vents. It has a great automatic keep warm feature. The plug is two-prong which is wonderful for old houses. It has some other features, but I haven't used them yet. I HIGHLY recommend this multi-cooker!

Mark Y.Mark Y.: My old rice cooker went bad, need a replacement. I was looking for very simple rice cooker, no need for any fancy features. Just cook rice, brown rice in particular because that’s what I eat. I selected this Hamilton Beach 8 cups rice cooker because I have good overall impression of Hamilton Beach as a brand. Had an HB juicer and it lasted forever.

The package was well organized and protected. Came with some accessories neatly packed, but all I really needed was the measuring cup. The coating on the nonstick pot seems rather thin, and the pot doesn’t feel as sturdy as ones seem in higher end rice cooker. Also, the power cord is extremely short, measured at only about 25 inches. That kind of limits where you can place it on the countertop, unless you have an extension cord.

Cooking process was nice and simple, I basically rinse the rice, add water, place the pot in the cooker, press “Whole Grain” cooking option, and that is it!

This simple rice cooker does its main job very well, I am satisfied with the result.

It is very well-priced for a simple rice cooker. My expectation is to enjoy trouble-free rice cooking for the next 3~4...

Vicky: The first time I made rice it was dry so I have been adding extra water and it is perfect. Have made oatmeal twice. Love how easy it is to use nd can’t believe the many things that can be cooked in it. Happy I bought it.

Haley: I've had this for over 4 years now and it still looks and works like brand new! It is a perfect little rice maker and produces delicious fluffy rice every time. This is very easy to use and also easy to clean. For a large family you will probably need to go with a bigger option though that produces more servings. This is a good amount for a small family or perfect for a single person like me because then I get leftovers! It is also surprisingly versatile, I've made a lot more than just rice using this. It can be used to make oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, banana bread, mac 'n' cheese, and a ton of other recipes. Great product!

amazon admirer: I bought 2 other brands prior to my buying this. I was VERY disappointed with the first 2. I was about to give up but thought I'd persevere and make a third attempt. Glad I did. Hamilton Beach can't be beat. It efficiently makes white rice, quinoa, steel cut oats and also steams! User-friendly. No mess on kitchen counter, and the instructions say it uses "fuzzy logic" to determine cooking time. Well, the logic, even if fuzzy, works like a charm. I would buy 2 except that I no longer have space in my kitchen. But I know a good product when I see one, and this one is a clear winner. Way to go, Hamilton Beach! You make my cooking tasks so much easier (I also have Hamilton Beach microwave). Buy it folks!

Edgar Mendieta: I've never done rice in my life...I was a little nervous about it but the moment the cooker ended I was astonished! The rice comes really nice, it make me feel like a real chef now experimenting all kind of ways for doing rice...also, you gotta be thoughtful about the kind of rice and brand...depending in the brand of rice is the quality of the end result...if you use cheap rice of course the outcome won't be so satisfactory as you expect, but if you are willing to pay a little more for a nice rice I can assure you you won't regreat it!...A must have in everyone's kitchen!!!
