It offers an easy-to-maintain design and overall satisfaction, along with a high-quality build that ensures durability. The large water tank allows you to brew up to 12 cups of coffee at once, and the stainless steel construction prevents corrosion and ensures your coffee maker will last. GS: Only been using it a week, but so far, this version is sooooo much better than the first generation flex-brew that I used to use! A lot more thought went into this machine. I love the independent reservoirs for the carafé and single serve sides, something the first ones didn't have which always annoyed me. Also, on the previous version, you had to pour very slowly or it would dribble down the side and mess up the counter top. That has been fixed! This one also looks better to me.
Only down side so far is the price. $175 is a little steep for a coffee maker but I am very happy with the purchase.
Update: several years later and my unit crapped out. I ordered yet another one but received a different, and I'll add, lesser model. This one does k-cups. Big deal. How about sending what I ordered instead? I hate Keurig and everything related to it which is why I bought this (one in the picture) in the first place.

anotherconventionalname: I am by no means am a coffee expert, and have been spending way too much money on bought coffee (Tim's, Starbucks etc.) so I wanted something less expensive in the long run and that I could make at home that had a single brew option but wasn't strictly k-cup oriented.
I also bought this when it was on sale for $49 prior to Christmas for myself once gifts were bought, and it's absolutely worth the regular price.
I did a lot of research on Hamilton Beach coffee machines because I wanted the dual option of both single brew and a carafe for when I have company (or know I'll be needing an extra push in the day).
Setup is simple, I thoroughly cleaned the product as it outlined in the manual first with vinegar and water on both the single and pot brew sides.
Ever since I've only used the single brew with coffee grounds and with various cups, travel mugs (including the one that came with it) thus far - I've not had to entertain anyone yet that also drive coffee, as my partner doesn't. I hope to try K-cups/pods in th near future just to see how they fair since I've only ever used them in Keurigs before.
Pros:
- fast brew for single cup
- easy set up...

Mergatroid: A great coffee maker overall. The single cup side is very handy, and the entire unit is easy to use.
The only thing I can think of that sort of bothers me is that these coffee makers use Senseo coffee pods. No one in my town stocks these pods. I ordered some coffee pods from overseas, at quite a reasonable price. They worked well, and the coffee was excellent, but it bothers me that I have to order if I want to use the pods (they are rather like round teabags, and the coffee maker allows you to use one for a regular sized cup, or two stacked if you want to use a double sized cup such as the one that comes with the coffee maker).
These are the ones I ordered:
Senseo Moca Gourmet Coffee Pods 48-count Pods
which were about $25 cdn for 48 pods. This coffee is excellent and beats the crud out of Tim Horton's Mocha and is about half the price. I bet I have saved enough money on mochas to pay for half the machine already.
Of course, you don't need to use pods at all. I picked up some flavoured coffees from a local grocery store, and you can just pour the grounds into the single cup basket without the need for a filter or pod.
This is the most expensive coffee maker I...

Canopus: There was a snowballs chance in , well you know, that I was going to buy a Kuerig, I wanted more flexibility. I am a big morning coffee drinker, and once in a while I like a single cup.
With all the other reviews, I will just cover what I have found in the last 7 or so months of ownership.
I placed this unit on a ceramic tile holder (easy to clean), and have used it almost every morning since I bought it. There has been no decline in it's ability to make great coffee, (either the "strong" setting or regular). You do, as in most makers, have to clean it (white vinigar or whatever you choose) or it will get bitter. It is relatively easy to clean.
I like the "single cup" option. You can either use pods (prebought) or load your own, quite easy. (I load my own). There are a lot of parts to clean, but it's easy.
In both methods, I use "additives" sometimes to the coffee, cinnamon or baking dark chocolate powder with no issues. I use a gold filter basket, (recommended) and regular filters at times.
The only item I have replaced is the plastic filter holder/basket. The bottom is a relatively cheap assembly, a plastic plug, a spring held by a washer, so...

Robyn: I purchased this coffeemaker a few days ago and I love it so far. It's a huge upgrade from my dinky $20 Mr. Coffee machine. The thing I get the most use out of is the single serve side -- I'm usually the only person in my house who drinks coffee regularly, so it saves a lot of time and a lot of coffee to just have that setting. The programming works perfectly. I have mine set to brew in the mornings before my classes and it hasn't given me any problems yet. It brews really fast and I like that you can change it to a bold setting. I just made a cup and it was finished before my breakfast was done cooking. My coffee comes out smooth-tasting and pleasant, but I do wish the single serve side got hotter. The single serve side would also probably be useful for brewing loose leaf tea. I haven't used the carafe just yet but overall the design of the machine is really sleek. I love the blue LED clock and the silver and black accents. The travel mug, as people have stated, is by and large useless. You'd have better luck brewing it in the travel mug and then transferring it to your own thermos. And the machine itself is pretty big. If you have low cabinets I can see that being a problem. I...

TASHA: I found out about the scoop coffee maker through a contest on facebook and though it would be neat especially since I tend to waste a lot of coffee from un finished pots but I wanted to be able to brew full pots if I had guests and to my surprise they had this.
It's easy to use you just flick the switch to full pot or single cup (It does cup with the mug in the picture) You can program it to brew on either side for when you wake up in the morning. Easy to keep clean The appearance is nice. The mug keeps your coffee warm for a minimum of an hour depending on where you are. If you are outside in the middle of a Canadian winter you've got about 20 minutes of hot coffee in the mug. I used to go through about two tins a week of coffee with my old coffee maker most of which was wasted from not finishing pots because I do not like cold, burnt, or microwaved coffee. With this machine I have cut my coffee purchase down by half in the first month of buying it. And with the 14oz mug I almost finish the whole cup before it gets cold. Still some waste but not much. Also another feature I like is the drip cup for the mug has a cup under it the flips over to be used as a stand for smaller...

M. AndersonM. Anderson: I'm only an owner of the product for 1 day, however I have brewed 6 single serves and 1 pot and so far, it works as described.
What I really loved about this machine was/is the concept. However, when I was deciding to purchase, I thought that it required the Senseo pads for the Single cup brew as there was very little info in the product features.
After receiving it, I was pleasantly surprised that the single cup brewing contained a little permanent filter that can be used with standard coffee grinds, awesome don't need to pay for the Senseo if I don't want to. It also came with a pack of 18 senseo pads as well.
Last night was perfect test of the single cup concept. I had already programmed and prepped my 7AM standard coffee brew, however I still wanted a cup of coffee (this happens often). So I switched over to the single cup and brewed my cup, then switched back and pressed the program button to ensure it would still brew the main pot at 7am. Worked like a charm!! Before I would have had to brew the entire 6 cups that were ready, toss out most of it and setup my morning brew all over again.
So far, very happy with the product. I will adjust review /...
