THE KNOWLEDGEABLE BUYER: I've been using the Grow!T GMC10L Horticultural Clay Pebbles in my hydroponic system. It has several benefits but also a few minor issues.

Pros:

The 4mm-16mm size range is ideal for most hydroponic setups.
The clay pebbles provide excellent aeration and drainage.
The 10L volume offers good value for the price.
They are reusable after cleaning, making them environmentally friendly.
Cons:

The pebbles can be dusty upon arrival and require rinsing.
They may float initially in the hydroponic system until fully waterlogged.
The bag can contain some smaller fragments and dust.
They can be heavy, which might affect some lightweight systems.

My conclusion:

The Grow!T GMC10L Horticultural Clay Pebbles are a solid choice for hydroponic gardening. Despite minor inconveniences, they provide good aeration and drainage, and are reusable. If you're a hydroponic gardener, these pebbles are worth considering.

Cjthadragon: was about enough LECA or clay balls to fill a 5gal or 20L bucket a little more than halfway full. most of the leca was intact and not crushed from being in a bag and whatnot. These are quite large bits of LECA, about the size of Nickels to quarters .

Ashlyn T: The only reason I don't see myself repurchasing this item is simply bc it's ugly. It's not like the reddish, perfectly round leca. I knew they wouldn't be perfectly round and that was ok. But the color of them is an ugly brown that just doesn't look pretty in some of my clear vases. For the most part, majority of my plants are in decorative pots so you can't see the leca. So maybe I'll just buy a smaller bag of prettier leca for my see through vases. Lol about 40-50% of the leca sank to the bottom after I boiled it all. It's also been sitting in a container of water all day as well. I bought the 25L bag and spent $42 on it so I had hoped that this leca would have absorbed more moisture than it did. I do feel like for the price, the quality should be a bit better but overall, this leca works just fine.

Review2Me: I bought this LECA because it was the cheapest I could find for the quantity.

As others have mentioned, most of it is not round. If aesthetics are concerning for you, this LECA isn’t for you. I actually think all the variation makes the LECA fit together nicer, and I actually get better results with it. Yes roots stick to it, but roots stick to the round ones too.

Yes it’s a little dusty when you get it, but what LECA won’t be? They all rub on each other during shipping. Just rinse it and it’s completely fine.

No they do not sink. I don’t know what makes these different than others, but they definitely always float. It doesn’t really bother me, so that’s not a concern.

Having said all of that, I’m very happy with it for what it is! It works great and the price is right!

Tavenor Trends Ltd.: I bought this product based on it's price; it was the most expensive and I thought there had to be an advantage from this brand being the most expensive and I must say, I just started to use this brand now and I made a clone and didn't even give it time to grow roots from the small cube I placed it in and the clone didn't even stress because of the moisture content these clay pebbles absorb so if I had to choose again I would still buy the more expensive brand because I feel their the best for absorbtion of H2O. Would you gamble on a lower grade of product in your garden to using a lesser product just to save a few dollars more? Not me and I have no regrets.

JohnJohn: I bought these for my flood and drain set-up. You have to clean these very well as they have a lot of powder from production. As I was cleaning I was worried because they all floated. I made sure all of the water was out of my barrels and filled to the top with rock. I then flooded them and I was very happy because the weight of the pebbles where enough to keep from floating up and over the sides. There is also maybe an inch of dry rock at the top of my system to prevent the growth of alge. They are perfect for my halfbarrel flood and drain. Also if your interested took just about 6 to fill 2 half barrels. Its a lot of money but after digging out my $150 of rock that tested fine with vineger but then the ph started creeping up was not fun either. This pebble is so light and easy on the hands to work with and should withstand for so long I'm happy with the investment.

Lori: I used this to act as a drainage medium for a reptile vivarium.

A lot of people complained about the pieces not being perfect balls. For me, this didn't matter, especially since when I think of "pebbles," I tend to think of imperfect little pieces. The clay pebbles do vary in size, with a marginal amount being tiny enough to slip through a strainer. However, it is quite a large bag and I had plenty leftover.

For my purpose, it works quite well. It helps to keep the humidity in the tank without leaving any standing water. I have yet to see any sort of mold or fungus growth. I am quite pleased!

Hint for cleaning: I divided the bag into manageable amounts and used an old strainer to rinse them off with the hose until the water runs clear. This a longer process but helps to thoroughly rid yourself of all the dust. I originally tried just throwing everything into a large bin, filling with water, and pouring out the water but I still ended up with dusty water. Do yourself a favor and clean thoroughly the first time around.
