Funkhouser: I bought this chainsaw because I liked the Greenworks 40V line trimmer and leaf blower I purchased a couple of years ago. A neighbor loaned me his 12" Greenworks 40V chainsaw last year and I tried that a couple of times, for pruning and trimming old branches, and I liked it, but I actually like my old 18V cordless reciprocating saw (from years ago) with 9" pruning blades for that kind of thing since it is lighter and more maneuverable. A few years back I converted from a gas powered Stihl chainsaw to a 14" Homelite corded electric chainsaw and loved the convenience of electric, and was pleased with the power, but soon got tired of the cord. So, I bought this 16" Greenworks unit to use as my main saw. So far, I love it. The 4.0 AH battery should last a long time between charges, and I also have the 2.0 AH battery from the line trimmer / leaf blower combo of a couple of years ago, and happily - the 2.0 AH 40V battery fits the 16" chainsaw just fine and is a full one pound lighter. All that is good. How long will it last? Too soon to say. However, I did note that this chainsaw uses a .043 gauge chain (this is stamped on the 16” bar and it’s also in the documentation), and the...

Honesty Blaze: After using gas powered chain saws all these years it was nice to use this one because it is really quiet. I didn't have much difficulty putting it together and the battery got fully charged in under two hours.
I'm not a super experienced chain saw user, more of a hobbyist. I do tree trimming and cut up fallen trees and firewood primarily. When I was adjusting the chain tension on this saw I found it somewhat difficult to get the tension right. I know from experience the chain tension has to be fairly tight otherwise the chain will pop off. I found that no matter how much I screwed down the plastic knobs that tighten up the chain I could not seem to get them as tight as I thought that they should be to operate this device without having the chain popping off.
The saw started right up like it should and I began to tackle my first task, trimming off some low hanging branches over the driveway. They are thick branches, I know better than to use a chainsaw to trim thin ones. These branches are at least 4 inches wide. The first branch sawed off nicely. So did the second. Then the tension on the chain gave way on the third branch and the chain came off. Now there's a...

D. Whitley: The Greenworks 40v 16" Cordless Chainsaw zips through branches from 1" - 7 or 8" quick and easy. Had to prune a large pine that had grown out of control and needed to remove 20 lower branches. Mostly 2 - 6". The first couple of cuts the chain fell off, but that was obviously my fault with not enough tension on the chain. Once I made the proper adjustment the chainsaw surprised me with it's power and cutting ability. I expected to have to return the chainsaw for lack of power and battery endurance. I WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED. I cut a dozen branches to the ground over two days and a couple hours and the battery charge light is still full at 4 bars. A bargain at the price I paid! Highly recommended for the homeowner who needs to trim branches from time to time. Once I needed to recharge the battery it only took 90 minutes to get four full bars and I was ready to get back at it.
ONE downside I noticed was as I held the blade vertical, straight up in the air to cut, oil was dripping off the handle of the chainsaw. Not sure if that is normal or an internal leak??? It didn't effect the performance of the chainsaw and I never noticed any leaking the rest of the time I was cutting the...
