cheryl laing: I can't leave a good enough review, I think it's been a year, I've left this on the grill in the rain... on for weeks at a time totally neglected... every port still works and battery still says 3/4 full.... it may be the most rugged item I've ever purchased and if it ever breaks for my grand children I'll tell them to buy another.

Drewnaciouschild: I've had this for quite a while and have since bought another brand that came with 4 probes hoping to use a couple for this one. Then I could use on inside and one outside. Unfortunately they use a different size jack. Using the other one made me appreciate this one so much more though that I figured I should go back and review this one. The other model I just got has it's own separate receiver rather than using a phone app. I like the phone app better as it's easier to read and navigate. I also found the receiver from the other brand to be quite bulky. I have a large yard and one of the things I liked best about the Govee unit was that I could monitor whatever I was cooking while mowing or doing yardwork from anywhere on my property. The other unit didn't have the range and the receiver was too big to fit in my pocket. Upon testing I found that the most important feature was completely lacking and that was accuracy! I tested the units against each other in my smoker. The other unit read about 10-15 degrees higher than the smoker probe, the Govee unit or an analog thermometer hanging in the smoker which all matched. Obviously the other unit won't be used again. Set it up in the back yard and was able to monitor from inside my house using the app over Bluetooth. The app is reasonably intuitive and it was nice to be able to see temps rise (or stall) over the 1-hour range graph.
I was a little hesitant to get this model over the typical grocery store/kitchen store model since most, if not all, functionality is tied to an app: setting max and min temp, timers, alarm type (vibrate, audible), and temp units. The thermometer itself has a single button which allows you to activate the backlight and rotate through the connected sensors. Always on are the displays for high and low temp alarm ranges, connection and battery statuses, and a the current temperature of the selected sensor.
This device was like my GPS for the 10-hour journey through swirling hickory smoke on the way to Flavortown (sorry) and never fought along the way. My reservations about the app so far have been unfounded. Very pleasant experience and look forward to...
