Kevin D: Love this half moon and rectangular mats. I got the 30 by 30 size. Looks like the kitchen rugs. My cat keeps urinating in front of litter box. Now she does it on this rug which saves my carpet. All I do is roll it up and hose it off. Dries fast ,and I put it back. The males bully her. I will take her to Vet. This is the best invention. Cats seem to like them.

Logan: It is durable, flexible, pretty waterproof, and not too bulky.

DO NOT pay the full price of $40 for this item, as there are numerous other cheaper options which are comparable to this one, but it IS worth the $20 I paid for it.

I only have two major complaints:

1. It is particularly hard to clean as simply shaking it out unfortunately does not remove all of the excess pieces of kitty litter, but they will come up easy enough by running a vacuum cleaner over it.

2. While tough enough for basic use it DOES NOT stand up to ANY kneading or even mild clawing. I watched my brother's cat for a weekend and he shredded it within the first couple of hours. Thankfully my cat has not acquired that particular bad habit, but it is something to keep in mind for those of you whose furry companions may be more aggressive than others with furniture and carpet.

coffeehound: My Lucy is the best litter scatterer you'll ever find. She steps out, steps away and then proceeds to shake each foot vigorously, litter going everywhere and requiring sweeping up several feet away. With her stepping out on this large mat, almost all litter granules plop onto it and her foot shaking now produces nearly zero scatter because there's nearly zero left in her toes! Why didn't I think to look for this mat sooner? Update: it stuck fast to my painted basement floor and pulling it up resulted in ripping some of the backing from the mat that is still adhered to the floor. I don't even care. Just shook out the accumulated litter in the naps and laid it right back down in the same spot. If YOU care, just be advised. Maybe need to sprinkle some baking soda or something to prevent bonding of surfaces.

Marion Duran: I put this by my cats litter box to prevent him tracking litter everywhere.It works well with most litter, trapping it so it just needs to be shaken out. Good product.

Kansas Girl: That kitty litter HAD to go! We had reached our wits' end -- the newer cat litter all seems to be designed to cling to a cat's paws and therefore, it gets tracked all over the house. A lot of my friends have been commenting on this, so it's not just us. We were sweeping and vacuuming litter around the house all the time.

When I finally went looking on amazon to see if there was some kind of product to help with this, I immediately got excited about this litter mat. It was only available in a few sizes and colors at the time, so we bought a fairly small size. We placed it next to the original litter mat we had and -- halleluja! -- I would say about 80% of the litter tracking was stopped.

After watching how she walked away from her litter box, I realized that our cat was stepping on the mat with only three paws, so the fourth still had litter clinging to it. Just recently, we ordered a much larger mat (in stock again), and -- voila! -- I think our problem is solved. Only a tiny amount of litter gets tracked out now! I would certainly recommend this product.

MamaKittyMamaKitty: I bought the largest sized mat to replace 2 area rugs I had under the boxes previously. I was relocating the boxes to another room while my husband replaced the carpet in the room where the boxes were. I like the fact that the mat is thin (but not too thin) so my robot vacuum can easily run across it. I can’t really see the litter that is getting into the mat (grey litter, grey mat). I think I’ll wait about 6 months before removing the mat to take outside to shake. Of course, litter is getting all over the floor, too. It just can’t be helped - unless you can get your cat to levitate and shake its paws before exiting the box. That’s what my dust mop, robovac and handheld vac are for. I’m not expecting any peeing over the edges of our boxes since I use storage bins for litter boxes. One of our cats is a champion litter kicker, so I’ve had the bins since they were kittens. Overall I’m really happy with this mat. It was a little stinky right out of the package. I left it folded in thirds to hang over a chair on our deck overnight. I didn’t really notice a smell the next day. I’ll be curious to see how much litter is in it when I check it in 6 months.

Domain Dame: My previous cat litter mats were all the kind with two layers. The last one was destroyed when my cat peed in it and I couldn't get it fully clean. I looked up "best cat litter mat" on Wirecutter and found the Gorilla mat. It's a single layer, but it's cut down on the amount of litter tracked by at least 80% compared to the previous mat(s). You wouldn't think that a cat litter mat would be a quality of life issue but until I got this one, I was seriously thinking that I'd have to get a Roomba to keep up with the litter tracking--that's how much of a difference it's made.

MarleyMarley: I wouldn’t say this mat is a game changer, however, the size in particular is helpful for catching more litter and it does trap whatever falls into it. We do still have pieces of litter scattered all over the floors but it’s less. Our cats don’t linger on the mat after they use the litter box, they’re all pretty quick to leave the area, and litter will still be stuck to their paws.

Seymour: So I want to start off with the positive. I love this cat litter mat! It definitely holds the litter within the mat properly and we have very few issues with litter being on the floor or anywhere it isn't supposed to be.

However my kitten had an accident on the mat and if you put your nose up to it, the mat still smells. I tried scrubbing the smell out and washing the mat but I find it very hard to wash and even harder to dry because I live in an apartment building. While I do recommend this mat, also consider your cats individual bathroom habits. Luckily my kitten doesn't have accidents often but it has happened a couple times on this mat unfortunately.

Just keep in mind how much time you want to be scrubbing and drying this thing!
