Found plate at home senses for 19.95 I was furious third party seller was horrible to deal with and did not refund me when they said they would and after I had returned the plate
After speaking to Amazon they made it right and refunded me

WatermelonTiger: Yes, so the box says Dublin Crystal, Genuine Shannon Ware but the small print says "Made in China." It is not Irish and it is not crystal. It is not even cut glass, but stamped/pressed glass.

That being said I gave it 4 stars because it is a good cake plate, sturdy and serviceable at a good price, decent to look even though it is not at all elegant like true Irish crystal.

What is wrong with this product is the false advertising, not the thing itself, which as pressed glass cake plates go is pretty good. Over the years it seems Amazonʻs business model has evolved into sell junk made in Asia, passing it off as American or European ware. This shows a lack of integrity and makes me not want to use Amazon any more. Hey Amazon, people hate being lied to.

Pam: This item did not disappoint. Arrived in one piece and nicely packaged. The glass is evenly clear and has a nice design, which will be perfect for my use (small, simple tiered wedding cake) but might be a bit much for every day use. Tried to find a clear glass pedestal plate; difficulty finding one that sat evenly and wasn't full of bubbles in the glass. The box indicates it is crystal -- no indication of "lead crystal", maybe there is a sticker on the plate somewhere; doesn't matter for my needs. Does not have the weight of other crystal pieces I have. The box has a preprinted MSP of $50 - I paid $25.00. Good value and it will probably end up going to the bride and groom, although they may not appreciated the style and might not use it.

JetSetKev: Don't take offence if you're a little fluffy. At one time I was 5'7 at 230# then at 20y.o. gradually started losing 73# and hit a growing spout and shot up 2.75"then chemo I dropped down to 128#then back up to my weight fluctuating between 155# to 173# but anyway...friends and coworkers used to say at our staff potlucks "fat girl likes cake" to my follow up "this fat girl likes cake and pie" now I have a beautiful cut crystal cake stand. Heavy enough to hold almost any cake, pies, cupcakes cookies or anything else that you may need to raise up and present your tasty treats to the heavens above. (As long as it's not over 10" around). When I was looking for an addition to our platters and cake stands I didn't mean to purchase this specific one as I was wanting and searching for a simple stand with a dome lid. When this cake stand arrived I opened the outer box to find this cut crystal stand with no dome and this ornate platter my smile quickly left my face as I was disappointed but then, when I opened the box containing the stand I got even more disappointed as the stand had broken/separated away from the platter due to the packaging. Liz Beth: We ordered this glass cake stand because two weeks before Christmas we chipped the base of our 30+ year old domed cake stand. I was looking for something that would fit my old dome. It also needed to have some lip or edge to keep the dome on. Some are flat and I've read reviews where the dome slides around. This one was described as having a raised lip, and that the 'flat' part of it was 10". I was on the fence about ordering it because my dome is 11" and I was taking a chance it would fit right. To my amazement, the dome fits perfectly over the new cake stand. And the only way I could be happier is if it were made in Ireland. It is very pretty. Prettier than the one we had. And the dome could not fit more perfectly and secure. The person who chipped the old one, is very relieved we were able to get a replacement so fast that we are happy with. And we won't miss a beat, with Christmas in two days and baked goods to sit in the domed cake stand. The only reason it is only 4 stars, is because I'm being told it was made in China, which I try to avoid. I haven't confirmed that yet, though. Whereever it was made, I'm very happy with it.
