Cafritz1967: Several things I wish I knew pre-purchase that may help someone else. The hood-like covering bothered me regarding security. I live in an urban area, WDC, so I'm a tad OCD about keeping my head on a swivel {so to speak}. There is a screw underneath the unit that prevents 'grab and go'. The camera sat on my table a week or so, but the downloaded app was fine (I rang myself a few times [lol]). It rings your cellphone and a provided box. This is good to have if the cellphone owner isn't home -- wife, kids, etc. can hear the bell but you also get the notification. I bought another reasonably priced Vid-doorbell and surrounding lock box. This bell was too thin, and I was unsure how the bell would work with the cover in the box.🤷🏾‍♂️
The ring was loud and has several sound options. The picture was cool (from my table).🤣🤣 Not bashing. Just informing.

Mitchell Nelson: I was furious at Ring for charging me for a year of service, then locking me out of my own device. They were holding our security hostage to demand a new layer of personal data harvesting. I am disabled and rely on seeing who is at the door and being able to speak to them.
So, I bought this doorbell camera and it is reliable and functions well. The software is a little clunky in routine use but it does the job. The design is more attractive the Ring units and the features are as good or better - especially no monthly vig when you record to a memory card. I should have switched sooner.

Michael J. YoungMichael J. Young: Set up and activation was easy and I like the CloudEdge app. So far so good. UPDATE: Been in use for 10 days now and I'm still very pleased. Had a small issue with a false theft alarm activation, but I put a couple of layers of electrical tape in the mounting box where the theft button makes contact, and that seems to have resolved it. The camera quality is better than I expected. I have a 60-watt equivalent LED porch light, and, as you can see from the photo, it provides plenty of illumination for the camera. I don't even use the night setting. The photo of my surprise visitor was captured at 2:40 a.m., in full color. The distance from the camera to the porch entrance is about 12 feet. The motion sensor alerts me when someone is entering the porch, and I usually open the door before they even ring the doorbell.

BC: I've had this camera door bell for over a month now. I wanted to really use the camera before writing a review. The setup is very easy and the directions are clear and simple. Installation was also very simple, my only issue with the installation is the screw that goes into the housing that screws to the exterior wall and into the camera, the screw is very small. I dropped one and lost it outside, luckily it comes with 2 screws, but if I drop that one trying to screw it in from the bottom, I won't have a way to screw it back in. I may need to go to the hardware store and buy a few to have one on had because it's not a normal screw. I bought the camera so I can see my daughter when she comes home from school, worked like a charm! I was able to talk to her from the camera and see her in the house ok. The view is really good and the lens is pretty wide. You can view live and even zoom in on objects. I use the SD card for storage, which is working well. I have the motion set on 3 which is sensitive, but not too sensitive. It only picks up motion that's on the house, sidewalk and sometimes loud cars that driveby. I could make it more sensitive, but I would be getting alerts nonstop if...

Janice W.: Overall, I love this video doorbell. The picture is clear even at night. The price is good and installation was easy. The only negative I would say is that the motion detector is super sensitivity. I have to keep it on the first level I live on a street where the school is at the opposite end of my street, so it's heavy traffic during school hours and it constantly sends images to the motion detector with school buses and SUVs driving up and down the street; however I did learn how to adjust the motion detector and the alarm so this won't be a problem. Also, I had to turn down the volume of the alarm; however the fact that there is an alarm when motion is detected is a good feature. The alarm is loud. I turned it down so I wouldn't disturb the neighbors. Butcwhen I'm away from home, I think I'll leave the volume. The camera is so good that I can see the houses across the street many many houses down and when I zoom, I can actually see into their windows, but thankfully, the image is fuzzy and indistinct. I hope no one's looking into my windows. This lets me know to be careful with my own windows. I'm debating on getting another one for the side door or getting a different type of...
