Amazon Customer: This is hands down on of the best products I've ever used from the civilian market. In fact, I would say the military needs to take a look if not already. I have owned this product for over a decade and it has held up through the most grueling work I could give it. I actually built a tree lean-to with my son 10 years ago using only the shovel and saw and nothing slowed it down. Totally bulletproof!

Judge, Jury, Reviewer: I bought this in 2013 and am still using it. Others have come and gone..broken, melted, given away, etc. This one is still tight at the joint and solid with no cracks in the handle or bends in the blade. These aren't the cheapest but will outlive all the others. I have used regularly to stoke fires, chop kindling wood, pry large rocks out of the dirt, dispatched a snake, used as a paddle in bass boat (long story) oh yeah it digs great too! This isn't just a tool, it's a trusted companion.

Daryl: Good reviews of this on YouTube, the head is made of thick steel with a decent bowl to actually hold dirt to get it out of the hole! , most don't have that!
You can set the angle of the handle to 45 degrees which makes scooping out dirt from a hole much easier.
Extend the handle and rotate it to lock the extension.
There is a wood saw in the handle, I have not used it yet, I have strapped some small survival stuff to it
such as a small folding blade, button compass etc, it fits ok back in the handle.
Anyone gives you any grief, tell them "I've got a Glock" ;)

Daming WangDaming Wang: The handle feels like plastic, but it is very hard. I guess it is glass fiber or Polytetrafluoroethene. It is interesting, light and hard. In addition, its lock is also very unique, it looks like a double lock structure. The angle of the shovel head is not arbitrary. It has 4 angle options. When you reach the correct angle, you will feel the change in power. When the angle is wrong, the lock cannot be rotated.

Kenny Tran: The initial impressions of the entrenching tool itself are quite good if not impressive to say the least. The package that the tool comes in is more of a cardboard clamshell with a mission statement from the manufacturer on the back. The manufacturer themselves being well known for their firearms in particular their pistols have come forth and put in modern design augmentations into this entrenching tool. In terms of design, the tool itself has a utilitarian design aesthetic in both form and function. The shovel head can swivel into several positions as marked by the indentations in the hinge; such positions allow a user some variability in terms of their digging and entrenching function. Upon closer inspection, there are more nuances to take into account, take for example the locking mechanism of the entrenching tool; it is a large turn-style knob in which turning clockwise tightens it while turning counter-clockwise loosens it. Furthermore, a closer look at the locking knob reveals that there is a flat slot cut into the knob itself. M40M40: PROS: Looking at this only as an entrenching tool, this is a very good design. I stopped carrying my old military E-tool as a camping implement based mostly on its weight. The Glock tool is much lighter (at about 1 pound, 5 oz.) than most other modern competitors:

- military models are about twice the weight, depending on model
- SOG's ripoff of the Glock design is a half pound heavier
- Gerber/Fiskar e-tool is more than a pound heavier

So, shy of spending a ton of money on a titanium shovel, the Glock is your best bet for a lightweight packable shovel for basic camp use. Despite its light weight, it is very durable and well made. From an engineering standpoint, they were able to save significant weight by (A) using the stamp shape to stiffen the end product, (B) using a thinner gauge steel, (C) using hardened and WELL tempered carbon steel instead of the pig-iron that most e-tools are made of, and finally (D) using composite polymer in place of the wood or steel usually employed for the handle. As the owner of many Glock products, I TRUST that their polymer formulation is as tough and indestructible as ever.
