Keep smiling!: I must say this is one of the most beautiful books i've ever read. I've actually never seen any of Ginger's films but i wanted to read the book anyway and im thrilled i did. Her stories are continually exciting and gripping which is rare in a book. She speaks of her faith and her life with such warmth and happiness that i did not want it to end. Definitely a book for those interested in the hollywood era. Such an inspiring and lovely woman... The world needs more people like Ginger!

SkyCloud24: I honestly don't get why someone would give this book a low rating or a bad review. As someone pointed out in their review of some other book on amazon, just because it didn't say what you wanted it to say doesn't mean it's a bad book. The author, Miss Rogers herself, tells her childhood life and the trials and tribulations of hollywood life as well as her personal life in a very lighthearted manner. The book has alot of quirks which will make you smile. She even had me saying "awww!" sometimes. She talks alot about her relationship with her mother. This is something I know alot about because I also grew up without much of a father figure. It was always my mom and I so her fond memories of growing up with her mother makes me think about the wonderful relationship I have with my mom. This book also makes me really excited about acting. I've always wanted to be an actress and she describes everything so wonderfully; being on set and working in movies; meeting the stars of her day and the tough times she had traveling with little money. She grew up around vaudeville too and it kinda makes me wish things like vaudeville still existed. Entertainment was very hearty back in those days...

james Caulfield: I've read a good few Hollywood biographies and autobiographies lately. This autobiography, written by Ginger Rogers when she was pretty old, was not among my favourites, though it was interesting.
She was very careful not to bad mouth anyone she had contact with - quite a nice idea though it did take much of the 'bite' from the book. There was also too much about her religion in the book.
All in all, her life in her own words seemed a bit smooth compared to other Hollywood lives I have read - especially the roller coaster life of Oscar Levant ('A Talent for Genius' by Krashner and Schoenberger),
which leaves you an emotional wreck! Not a bad read on the whole, and the book I bought was actually signed by Ginger, which has made it special, and I still adore all the Fred and Ginger films.

R. Bono: I found this book to be delightful. I'm not taken aback by the use of the first person pronoun, or the comments on Christian Science, or her bursts of enthusiasm that come through from many years ago. In fact, they enhance understanding of this ebullient and hard-working personality. She's open about her flaws and imperfections...and in fact, seems eager to communicate them to the public....who, seeing her in more than a few transcendentally beautiful films, had come to expect the same from her in person. She demonstrates her down-home humanity and her joy of life many times over...even as she attempts to set the record straight, on all the so many erroneous things, that were said about her over the years.
She's quiet on certain (but not all) personal things...i.e., between husband and wife....and I'm glad she had the good taste NOT to let us in on the things that are none of our business. She was more of a private person...like Fred...than many would have supposed. She was active socially at different parts of her life, but always preferred the small gathering, or the small party, with friends.
Some viewed her as an "ultra-conservative". But here too, she sets the...
