Michael Smith: Minus 1 start because of magnets on back. I prefer if it did not have magnets. But if they are attached make them strong enough to hold this to a metal object. A metal slider would be better as to to not wear out on the back. Plastic pins work great. You can always push the pins into place from the other side if you are concerned about marking the wall. The lock works great. Very happy with tool.

JeremyJeremy: I haven't used this a whole lot yet, but the times I have, it has helped me make some very precise cuts. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a mechanism to lock the shape so you have to be very careful when you're moving it, not to move the individual teeth; the teeth don't slide by sheer gravity but they move fairly easily if you tap with your finger or put to much pressure towards it with your pencil while tracing your pattern. I probably would have held out for one with a locking mechanism.

Wijendra Gunatilake: A nice and decent product which is really useful to copy irregular shapes. This is easy to use and sufficiently accurate for most of my projects as a wood worker. It could have been more useful if it was 18 inch in length for larger projects. Recommended.

MayTheForceBeWithYou: I've had a couple of times where the "teeth" on this thing were not long enough to accurately recreate the profile. Even a spindle on a railing it wouldn't get the profile.

Peggy: This contour/profile gauge is very useful!! I have used so far it to fit carpet tiles around the doors and trim by my back door - it made the job so much easier and more precise! This gauge is a good length (some of the other gauges are too short for my needs). Overall, I highly recommend this product, as it seems to be of a very good quality.
