HeatherHeather: This bolster is not too soft , but also not too firm . Like a very firm memory foam , but not memory foam is the best way I can describe it. It is just the right height for proper meditation seating . Comfortable on the toosh for long periods of sitting , without being so soft that it can not be used for a good stretch in Yoga. I use it in place of blocks , and as a meditation cushion , as well as for restorative stretches for my lower back and sciatic pain , as well as opening the shoulders , in ways I was having a hard time doing before. There is no strange smell , the additional covers fit just right. Everything about it , is just right.
