We have a hot tub installed in our walk-out basement which is 2-3 feet below grade. We use this to pump when emptying the tub in order to put in fresh water (every 2-3 months). Pump was very strong and hooked up to garden hose. Water was equivalent to a hose at nearly full volume (took longer to fill the tub than to empty it, Hot tub was empty in about 7 minutes!).
I purchased the version with the float because I wanted to make sure that I could walk away from the pump and it would stop when the water level dropped. Still had about 1-1.5 inches of water in the bottom, which was easy enough to use a high-absorbing towel.
Highly recommend, not sure if the float was necessary, or if a non-float version might have drained even more water.

Albert Kuan:
I had tried a (non-submersible) transfer pump to drain my underground pool but it kept overheating( smoke emanating from motor) even though it never ran dry. Best I could do was run it for 4 hours at first but it progressively got worse. It needed constant supervision. Flow rate was only 300gallons per hour.
This submersible pump was faster and better in every way. I did turn it off at night but during the day I would only needed to check on it occasionally. After about 3 or 4 days it drained my pool completely (except for a bit of puddle with a lot of organic debris at the bottom).

carutis: Like everything about it . It fit my needs well. It is compact and and easy to set up. Works well and is quiet. I took it out of the box, bought a line to hook to the discharge and plugged it in. Worked great. You need to have a pit with enough diameter to allow the float to rise to the water level. Probably not a problem in most situations.

Gnemik:
Despite some issues with specifications and instructions regarding the float switch, I can state this is an attractive and well constructed product. It's almost a shame that an attractive device is hidden in an underground basin, serving as a sump pump. When the float switch is engaged, water level high enough to allow the float device to turn system on, the powerful motor quickly and (surprisingly) quietly pumps water out of the basin. The key consideration is the water level needs to reach 20 inches, to properly affect the float switch.
Of note: Seller, Tornado Tools, really stands behind their product.
Based on all these factors, I can easily recommend this product.

Rick-Miami: Worked great for 9 months, then didn't use it for 4, motor now doesn't function and overheats. Motor also rusty which seems odd for submersible unit. Should have bouth the extended warranty.
