Vanellope: I bought this knowing that it was going to be extremely annoying in the house for myself. My son is a hyperactive child who absolutely does not understand what the word "quiet" means. During covid, I decided that we were going to have some at home educational programs. Music was one of them. I discourage parents from buying this if they are easily annoyed by loud obnoxious noises. They will happen. It's a recorder. That's what they do. Don't expect a soothing flute sound. 😅

Glen Walker: Bought this for my 5 year-old niece and she loves it. Her Mom looks at me with the “if looks could kill” expression which only adds to my enjoyment. Would definitely recommend as a gift for any child that does not live with you.

Joanna Martino: This came with a YELLOW Recorder. Yellow is the last color I’d pick. It’s so ugly. Disappointed.
The music book is great though.

Amazon Customer: The music sheets by themselves seem to worth the price. The quality of the recorder is decent, although it is not as good as the ones I have used in school, but for this price, it is okay. I was actually looking for a "digital recorder" when I first got it thinking we are in the digital age and forgot this is the recorder as the bag states it comes with two items.

Robin Shields: I bought this as a joke present for my best friend. She ABSOLTELY LOVE THIS and considering she is still playing it, YEARS LATER, I think it has been a great success! The downside is that her partner has been threatening to get his revenge on me for having made him live through the horror of poor recorder playing.

BLG: Over a year later since we gifted this to our niece for Christmas. They live in Florida, so we try to find gifts that leave an impression.
Naturally, we find the most appropriately annoying—but certainly fun— gift we can find.
From the moment the gift was opened on Christmas to today, it realms as the most annoying gift yet. (Airzookas are also an insanely fun and annoying gift for nieces and nephews)
We still get texts from her mother saying “that f***ing recorder!!” And I promise it’s worth the laugh. Plus the niece loves it, and that’s what really matters

Basically a 40's Wine Mom: Listen, you want your siblings to give you a list of what their kids want for birthday/Christmas each year? Buy the kids this. I PROMISE you that you’ll never have to guess again.

I was having problems getting that wish list every year and every year my brother told me to get his kid “whatever”. This, technically, counts as “whatever”. And let me tell you, her birthday just passed and I was the first person to get items for what she’d like as presents.

TIP: do what I did and also print out other songs that should NEVER be recorderer songs to go along with this (ex. Justin Bieber’s “Baby” or Carly Rae Jepson’s “Call Me Maybe”). You find them online for free and place them into a $5 binder and you look like a great aunt/uncle but really this is about revenge and respect.

cheryl: My sister looked at me with horror when she saw I had got this for my girls to learn. Why would I willingly subject myself to hours of let it go or do you want to build a snow man in the tune of loud squeaks and shrill notes. I'll admit I was questioning my sanity too. But watching my 6 & 8 year old learning to play this little instrument is worth the occasional annoyance ♥️♥️ easy to learn easy to read

Andy & Ari: This is a book I purchased for my daughter, who really loves Frozen a lot, because since I took a bottom line position of "if you expect me to pay for guitar lessons you need to show me you can pull out the discipline by finishing learning the recorder," I figured it would be the decent thing for me to do to buy her a book geared more towards her interests. We actually both agree on this rating, and even have similar reasons for it.

I am going to be comparing this book to "It's Recorder Time," which I think does a better job of teaching the notes at a pace that is more manageable for a child who is either being taught or trying to go through it themselves. My daughter is 10, she was a year younger when she was trying to learn using "It's Recorder Time." She had my assistance with that, as it was the instrument she chose to learn during the brief period of time we were homeschooling, but she found the song selection to be so boring, and the lack of illustrations to be no fun whatsoever, and she was putting up so much passive aggressive resistance, that I quickly decided it was unessential and doubled down on the essentials that needed to be covered for standardized testing....
