To say that this extends your downspout 8' is not quite correct. It is solid for 4' and has punched drainage holes for the other 4'. Unless there is a considerable volume of water flowing through, the plastic stays stuck together and doesn't open enough to drain. Additionally, you would want a really good slope to move the water along. For my application, this was rather useless. It may work for you however.
Installation involves a long twist tie that I didn't find very secure. A strong wind blew it off.

Marty: I have had Rainguard for years and love them but have not been able to find them and when I do they say out of stock , so thought I would try these since I was in need to replace the ones I have. I have several places where the water needs to go out about 6-8 feet and a couple I can use the shorter ones. Was excited when I saw the self roll up like I'm use to so ordered a few 4 ft and several 8 foot. If you only need 4 foot ones they look pretty good but if you need longer..haha. First they are manual roll up, second they are made of a thin plastic no where near the quality of the short ones, probably won't survive the springs storms we have(Texas)., also means with a little wind these things will be blown up against the house serving no purpose. Oh and they are a totally different color of green so they don"t even match, if you get green and final thing don't look at the picture they have because it looks nothing like that.

The plastic drain away downspout extender simply rolls out under the water pressure simple concept without complicated or hard plastic extenders which are heavy and somewhat hard to hide on the yard.
I have mine in service with satisfaction.

Mary F.:
I just had my gutters cleaned before I installed the 8' Drain Away Downspout Extenders on 2 downspouts. One day later we had a torrential downpour - one that would have had my gutters overflowing like crazy. I installed these extenders on the 2 downspouts and plan to get more for the others after seeing how perfectly they worked. I wish I had a video because you need to see this thing in action.
The rain started and I was able to look out a window at one of the extenders. I watched the extender begin to bulge and roll out a little. I feared it was going to back up and blow off the downspout but instead it continued to unroll as it filled. As the extender reached the point where there are drain holes it slowed a bit but continued to slowly unroll. The entire 8' unrolled and emptied on the grass across the sidewalk, away from the house! Just what I wanted. I was so excited that I went out in the rain to see if the other extender was working the same way. It did. It had already rolled out and extended across the sidewalk and emptied harmlessly onto the grass.
This is the first time in forever that I have not had a puddles of water settling around the...

N. SHEN: We live in Northern California where there are lots of sun and very dry in the past few years. The plastic material started to crack in 8 weeks then totally became shreds in six months.
