Foxelli Men's Waterproof Suede Leather Hiking Boots - Ideal for Outdoor Adventures

Amazon Customer: Just did the 10k Volksmarch to Crazy Horse and decided after that it was time for some new hiking boots. The other weekend I went to a couple different stores, Cabellas being one, tried on numerous pairs, and nothing really felt right. I've got picky feet, I guess. I've I always been skeptical buying shoes on line for that reason. I bought a pair of these because of the good reviews and I liked the way they looked. I put them on expecting to find something wrong, but my feet went, "Aaaah!" They immediately felt comfortable, heel support, toe box, cushion of the sole. Now, I haven't walked a single mile in them yet, and if my opinion changes I will provide an update. But first impressions are very favorable. Don't worry. Give them a try.

NateNate: These boots have been decent. I usually wear 11s, but 11 were slightly large in this boot and probably would have been better with 10.5. The boots were very comfortable in both hot and cold climates. I did many 10-plus mile backcountry hikes with these boots with no blisters and foot pain. Most of the terrain I hiked was loose rocks, Boulders, and mud in the BSF and GSMNP. The waterproofing lasted about 500 miles, and then the splits started at the edge of the toe box. But even with the splits you could get through streams with minimal water invasion. I found the laces to be less durable. Also, they would come untied if they were not double-knotted. I switched to the elastic no-tie type, and they worked fine. I recommend to Foxelli to consider this as an option. The Insoles also only lasted about 300 miles. I replaced them with some keen insoles which lasted for the next 700 miles. These boots performed well but could be a little tougher regarding the laces and insoles. I did get 1000 miles for $100 so good value.

fastmcfastmc: I have been an avid hiker for decades and a hike leader for over a decade. I summited Mt. Whitney 13 times among many other peaks in California.

In a few months, I plan to visit Everest Base Camp plus 3 Passes in Nepal so I am looking for something better than what I have presently.

I have worn Saucony Peregrine for many years before that I wore Salomon Speedcross for many years.

In addition, I also have Lowa Renegade boots and Zamberlan Tofane for years.

The purpose of my search is to find a new pair of boots better than what I have.

Nepalese guide insists that I wear boots. My Lowa Renegade weighs 2.8 lb while Zamberlan Togane weighs 5 lbs. Both are on the heavy side for me.

I want to find out if there is a pair of boots out there that is better suited for this trip so I started the search.

I started by comparing published specs and noted that Salomon boots tend to be lighter. Their boots also have aggressive tread that I like.

Lowa Renegade is durable and reliable, but its leather top makes it more rigid and heavier. Zamberlan Tafane is super comfortable but very heavy.

Ok, after 6 months of intense use I started to notice some stress cracks in the toe cap. At first I thought it would be ok but then eventually they grew and had penetrated through to the waterproof membrane in the boot. I didn't test the boots waterproof ability which since day one had been exceptional.

What do I consider intense? Well, I am 280 lbs, and I walk my dog 3 times a day which winds up being close to 6 miles each day. There is some asphalt driveway, grass, crush-n-run gravel, dirt, snow, ice. The trails I created in the woods on my property are all hilly and the elevational difference is nearly 80 feet, in as little as a couple hundred yards. A lot of it is pretty steep, and there is some shale here and there.

I cleaned my boots after each use. I did not use a conditioner on the toe caps. Oh, a string broke too.

I contacted Foxelli and explained the situation. They were very helpful and understanding. Foxelli promptly sent a replacement pair of boots. The product is only part of the equation. The company that stands behind their products is what makes the products truly great.
