shaheem jacksonshaheem jackson: The build quality is phenomenal. Nothing is lacking.

The handles are a grippy G-10 fiberglass that's designed to last forever.

Airplane grade aluminum retention ring feels great and allows smooth and easy manipulation of the Karambit when pulling it from your pocket or switching from the reverse to extended grip and vice versa.

Several different and reliable methods for deploying the blade including the near instant Emerson Wave, which honestly does take some practice to deploy consistently.

The ergonomics are amazing and the knife feels great in hand.

Something to note however is this knife, The Fox 479 was originally made to be worn by people wearing gloves...so if your hands aren't 3.5" across the back of knuckle as recommended then you will find it larger than optimal.

This would make an amazing gift for any karambit enthusiast.

Likely the best value for the money of any folding karambit.

Doesn't flick open without assist or wrist snap.

Highly recommend this karambit.

Teresa Ayon: I really really like this knife except my 20 dollar smith and wesson folding knife is just as sharp. For the price, I was expecting this knife to be razor sharp. It's sharp but not sharp enough at this price point. Might return.

tbtb: The media could not be loaded.  First off. Other reviews are saying it too hard to open, they are trying to adjust the tension at the "tension screw " the stiff open is caused by a new knife has not been "worked in" or "polished " there is a cross bar on the back side of the knife separating the handle that the blade comes into contact with a "retention grove" in the blade. These is what makes it stiff when now. Just work it open and close to "polish" the retention grove, when it loose up that is when you adjust the retention screw to your liking. Look at my video of what I just explained.

Second.
I love these knives. This is the second one that o have bought. First was 10 years ago for a trip to Vietnam, and I still carry it almost daily.
I bought the second knife for cancel carry in side my belt. I have a coustem ccw leather belt with inside pockets. This is for when I need a deeper ccw knife.

I plan on buying a third knife soon so I can have the chance of either right pocket, left pocket or inside the belt carry.

MJD_JR: word of caution, be careful. In the first 10 minutes of owning this knife I was bleeding and had sliced my shorts (100% my own fault). The blade deploys easily when drawn from pocket and has the pointiest tip of any knife I own to date. I drew the knife and caught my baggy shorts with the blade and cut them. I see me ordering the training version to practice with a bit to avoid needing to go get stitched up.

AthleticL: I'm returning mine very quickly. Very disappointing.

+: Emerson wave feature works, it's pretty cool.

-: Dull out of the box. Wouldn't bite into a piece of paper, dull to the touch, I have knives for $100 less that came more sharp and karambits are tough to sharpen due to the blade shape. Unacceptable!
Flipper tab does not deploy the blade. The pivot felt grindy, I tried open/closing it 100 times to loosen it, loosened the pivot screw and the blade still cannot be deployed with a flipper. Whether its a design defect or a quality control issue, there's no reason that a knife that is designed primarily as a self defense tool, as karambits are inferior as EDC for almost any other purpose, should not open the same way any other knife with a flipper can. In a self-defense event, if you for some reason don't engage Emerson when pulling the knife out of your pocket, this is a 2 hand opening knife or you would have to flip it and use your thumb to walk it all the way to lockout. Again, unacceptable.
Ergonomics are not good. Unless you have sausages for fingers (for reference, I wear large gloves) the finger grooves are set too far apart for a strong grip. Your grip is...
