Brandy A.: I have a 4 month old standard poodle that loves to chew and swallow anything he can get in his mouth. After looking at so many other types and reviews, I finally decided to go with this one. Seemed less harsh and more sturdy than others but still gave my puppy freedom safely. I got a xsmall because he's long snouted. Glad I did because it fit well without smashing his little nose and its very light weight. Now, the bad part is he tore this thing up by repeatedly rubbing his nose against what ever he could in an attempt to get it off. This included grass, dirt, fences, floors, random peoples legs, walls etc. All the friction caused the mesh to tear and Voila!! Now there's a hole that I can't repair. This muzzle looks like I've had it for 2 years instead of 2 weeks....its totally gross and stinks now! Unfortunately, it's in the trash and I've ordered a different one that's non mesh and can be wiped cleaned! I believe this would be great for a less active doggo. Oh last thing, my puppy was still able to bark with it on so if you're thinking about buying it to stop the barks, this will not work.

Amazon Customer: This is the second one I have bought. The first one my 8month old pomsky destroyed it as I had accidentally left it on the floor. The mask is good quality other wise. My dog is able to breath and the mask prevents my dog from licking and eating random things outside. Unfortunately my dog is gross and likes to scavenge so it took some weeks for her to get used to wearing it.

I recommend putting treats inside the mask before putting it on their dog so they associate it possitively

Ana PiccoliAna Piccoli: Dopo quattro tentativi, ho trovato questa museruola che per l’uso che faccio è semplicemente perfetta! Praticamente ci serve soltanto per girare dentro la palazzina e poi, per averla a portata di mano com’è obbligo di legge. Non ci è mai capitato di doverla mettere al di fuori della palazzina, ma si capiterà questa necessità devo dire che è facilissima da mettere, pieghevole e leggera da portare in tasca. Avevo già fatto bem due settimane di adattamento (consiglio vivamente di non avere fretta) con delle museruole rigide, allora adattare a questa è stato facilissimo, è bastato un giorno e due fette di mortadella!
Anche quando non c’è nessuno in giro per la palazzina, che sono sicura di esserci solo noi, la metto lo stesso. Ho fatto di questo in rituale, una routine. La cosa peggiore per un cane è non abituarlo e mettere la museruola all’improvviso quando serve. Diventa così un instrumento di tortura. Se la porta però tutti i giorni, per poco tempo, come ad esempio nel mio caso che la associata a qualcosa di piacevole che è l’ora della passeggiata, la porta volentieri. Provateci!

Reine Soleil: 11/22/2022 - the dogs eventually did learn to drink through the mesh so it is definitely possible for them to figure it out after many tries and over a few months. I think that if we used these daily, it would have been a lot faster. I upgraded this item to 5 stars. It did work as advertised eventually with a steep learning curve for older dogs.

Finally something that works well partially anyway...

If you're looking for something your dog can drink through, keep searching, this is not it, even though it says it is.

Two of my dogs are highly reactive, getting worse as they are getting older (9 and 10 years old) and they displace their aggression toward each other when they cannot get to the dog, cat, plastic bag or leaf that had the audacity of showing up in their field of vision. That means no walking them together, no keeping them in the same room when I am not home, constant supervision when they are together in the yard etc...

I had given up on finding a muzzle until their last fight broke my finger and sent their blood flying all over my room, I still don't know what started it, it was 4 AM and everyone should have been asleep.

ChocolateLabMomma: I bought this because my dog eats dead fish on the beach. She has good recall but once she finds a dead fish it becomes a game of keep away and ruins our whole day, and possibly the next several days if she gets sick.

This works. Perhaps not perfectly but my expectations are not perfection. I expected a lot of resistance and discomfort, but she actually didn't seem too bothered by it. I put the muzzle on, gave some treats and let her run. Sure enough, she found a dead fish. Pre-muzzle, she would have had the fish in her mouth and been a complete a**hole until it was gone. I was able to get to her before she could get the fish in her mouth (she would have been able to with more time), get her away from it and give her some treats. This has happened a few times, and she also found an injured bird on the beach and this muzzle probably saved the bird's life (I took it to a rescue). I think this is going to help me train recall too, because she's learning that she's not going to get the fish before I get her, so maybe the treat I'm offering is a better bet.

Overall, a mesh muzzle is great if you have a dog that eats gross stuff. Now that I know it works, I'll invest in a...
