Farberware FCP240 Stainless Steel 2-4-Cup Percolator

Parker: The Farberware 12-Cup Electric Percolator Coffee Pot, made of premium stainless steel, has been a fantastic addition to our morning routine. Its assembly is a breeze, and cleaning it is equally straightforward. What we truly appreciate is that this percolator ensures our coffee never comes into contact with plastics or any potentially harmful synthetic materials.

The speed at which it brews coffee is remarkable; we can enjoy 6 cups in just 4-5 minutes. However, there's one minor drawback - the coffee comes out extremely hot once it's done percolating. I found myself waiting for about 10 minutes before I could comfortably take a sip.

Aside from the heat issue, this coffee maker is exceptional. Its stainless steel construction and the absence of plastic make it a healthy choice for brewing. If you don't mind the extra wait time for your coffee to cool down a bit, this Farberware percolator is definitely worth considering. It delivers on quality, taste, and peace of mind regarding the materials used in its construction.

Mark M: I thought brewing coffee via percolator would be interesting and eco friendly. But, having this reminds me of how good we have it with automatic brewing machines, like those of Mr Coffe, Bunn, etc.

Most baffling is the 1970s safety feature of plug it in and it's on because switches are for wusses.

There's not even a light to indicate what's going on in the pot, nor any option to switch off after X amount of time has elapsed.

I don't know what kind of grind to use, but you'll probably need filters if you use mass produced, pre-ground coffee.

When your coffee is done, I don't if I should just start pouring or empty the grounds out first since it looks like the brewed coffee might commingle with the grounds before exiting.

If you do opt to remove the innards before pouring your first cup of joe, be careful, because they're metal and freaking hot, and tough to grab. So, get some tongs if you don't have any.

That said, if you look past the gripes and know what you're getting into this is probably a solid product, which is why I gave it four stars.

ATXDIY: I bought this thing in January of 2015 and its STILL going strong! I use it for the same reason so many other do - to avoid my HOT coffee being poured over plastic, as the plastics DO leach into the coffee and that is a KNOWN carcinogen. Just to be sure, I have an extra one in reserve in case this breaks and they have stopped making them.

On a side note, this is probably my 5th one to own, and it seems the quality of each on is a different from the others. And no it hasn't declined over time. I read somewhere that it depends on exactly where it was manufactured, and it seems over time they have switched up the heating element in the base, that is where the lifespan of the percolator seems to reside. Anyway, this current one seems to be the best quality of any in the past.

VT10: I wanted to get away from using a drip coffee machine since with those there’s hot water running through a plastic basket which is toxic. After a lot of research I chose this one. It’s easy to use and makes good coffee. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons: I wish it had the ability to preset coffee the night before but that doesn’t seem like an option on any percolator. I also don’t like that the pot isn’t on a base that you can remove to easily clean without having to worry about getting the plug opening wet. It would be so much easier to clean if the pot could be separated from the plug opening and submersed in water.

It was hard to find a percolator that made 12 cups of coffee, most make less, so with this being the only option, it’s acceptable and I’d buy it again.

Caprican: I really wanted to like this being a percolator user for decades. I order a used 'like new' one, but it arrived more broken than 'like new' so I returned to get another new one. It does the job and makes a nice, hot, flavorful cup of coffee. It is easy to clean, although you end up cleaning it earlier than you think (see below). My problems with may just be my personal issues, idk.

1. There is no light. I knew this. But it sure would be nice to have especially when brewing process stops and then later when you glance from across the room and ask yourself, 'Did I unplug that thing?'

2. Getting the top off is not easy and hence I am afraid, in the not too distant future, the black knob will snap off. That's how hard it is to remove. There is no screw, it is welded on, so if it breaks, there is not solution other than to somehow buy another whole top, or pry it open with a tool. Neither solution is great.

3. Because the inner part of the spout is so close to the top , you really do have to remove all baskets before you start pouring. Otherwise you will be refiltering/brewing some of your coffee. The baskets are hot, drippy and before having a first cup of coffee...

Mr John W Forster: Difficulty removing the lid of the pot. There was no on and off switch on product and no indication with a light telling you the product was on or off unless you went to the main switch. The product was more like tin than stainless steel and had a very weak plastic handle. The product came with an American electrical connection and not a British connection with plug. This was not in the advert of the product. The product would not work with a British electrical connection that we had to buy and so would not heat up the water in the percolator which looked more like a tin kettle.
We have to pay postal costs to send this product back to America which was also not in the advert of the product. Altogether a terrible purchase and a waste of one's time.

Seedbell: This is a nice-looking little percolator, but I didn't know when I bought it that it comes from the US with an American plug. In order to use it in the UK, I would have to buy a transformer for nearly £100. In order to send it back and get a refund, I would have to pay the extortionate postage to America. I feel I've been comprehensively fooled. I'm angry. Don't buy from this seller.

Cliente de Amazon: La cafetera tiene un diseño moderno , aunque me hubiera gustado que el cuerpo de la jarra fuera más pesado, porque cuando está percolando el café, se bambolea.
El café sale bueno y de sabor intenso, muy caliente y así se mantiene mientras está conectada.
Le quito una estrella porque no tiene una luz que indique cuando ya está listo el café .
