Hefford: Haven’t gone completely through the whole book yet, but it appears to be a VERY in depth and resourceful book for this type of information. Well worth the price, especially for a hardcover.

GSGS: Unfortunately the book sent is in terrible condition. The back is completely broken with pages start falling off. The front cover is also damaged and look used. This condition was not advertised anywhere in the product description. For the price paid, this should not happen.
Also, it seems there is no way to contact the seller to replace the product - only option to return, which I am seriously considering. Otherwise, the book content is amazing, but aimed at scientists and researchers rather than average oerson interested in ethnic naturopathyv sing native plants.

Michael Hammor: First off, I bought this digital version because $60 was a bit rich for a book.
There are several issues that are significant.
The formatting is terrible. It seems like they tore the pages out of the book and put them through an OCR scanner and sent the book to Kindle without reviewing, editing, or correcting any misreads. It takes an effort to understand the content past the typos. The Cherokee Indian tribe is constantly referred to as the Herokee.
There are paragraph breaks in odd places and words are hyphenated as though they are continued from a previous line, but they aren't. Page numbers show up in weird places from the OCR scanning of the book pages and should have been removed. Plant names and some sort of reference number show up in weird places and it makes me unsure of which plant I am reading about.
Non-digital issues.
No plant images to aid in proper identification. No descriptions to aid in proper identification. Information on some plants is sorely lacking. Bidens Bipinnata, I have accumulated over a written page of medicinal information regarding this plant, how to prepare it, and how to dose it. This book has two uses, no information on...

J M: This is an excellent book! Well worth the price of admission. It's well-researched and very thorough. The layout is great and it's easy to find whatever plant, flower, etc., you're looking for. The information on uses are broken down by tribe. This is a very unique book.

Netphax050505Netphax050505: This book is an amazing reference tool! Not only is there a catalog of plants but there are other ways of listing as well. The information has been broken down by each tribe and indexed by usage. There is also an index of common names and synonyms. There are not photographs or drawings of each plant. While that would also have been amazing to have today. The amount of time and effort poured into this book is beyond compare. What is in this reference will make finding photographs or drawings later much easier if or when there is a need. I am very thankful that I decided to purchase this hardcover book because it is worth it. There are 927 pages so keep in mind this is not a light read but a very informative one. My shipment arrived on Time but the way it was boxed caused one corner to become slightly creased. Other than this I am very happy and I will definitely recommend to others.

Randy J. Mercurio: I can really appreciate this book because I know how much work went into creating it. Although I wish there was more detail about how the plants were used I'm able to cross reference other books to get the information I need. The layout of the book gives you the ability to attack a given plant inquiry from many different perspectives. For example, you can decide you want to know what a particular group of Native Americans did with a specific plant and look up the plant in the main body of the book (Catalog of Plants) and it will summarize the uses by the following categories: drug, food, fiber, dye & other. Then within each of these categories each group of Native American tribe is named with the uses if it applies to them. All of the uses are referenced to the literature (bibliography) giving you the ablity to obtain original articles if desired. From another perspective, you can have an interest in the Cherokee and go to the section "Index of Tribes" which will allow you to look up each of the many specific subcategories of the main categories mentioned above and get the use of specific plants such as under, Drug, the analgesic plant uses. It also contains a list of the...
