Lady J: My children read the book and learned a great deal. It’s like History written for children between the ages of 7 and 12. We order a few of these books when schools were closed - during the Corona pandemic as a way to continue their education.

Anonymous: A good book to read in spare time for children. Concise, clear and crisp. Neat pictures make it interesting too.

Djilly L.Djilly L.: Bought this for our 9-year old daughter who is obsessed with history and famous historical characters. Thought it a nice idea to introduce her to an individual from more recent history that is colourful and a little less ordinary. Moreover the series seems to have an intriguing list of topics, so perhaps I would buy more of these books.
However I’m not too pleased with the purchase.
The thin book has a colourful soft cover, but this got folded in transportation. The illustrations inside the book are plain black and white drawings and simply not too inspiring.
Aside from the weak presentation, the lettering was a little large as well, so it is probably more for readers in the 7 - to 8 -year age range and less suitable for our passionate 9-year old bookworm.
The story line is fine, it provides some background on the sport, the social issues of the era and Mohammad Ali's welfare work. He remains an extraordinary character, but the storyline is a little to straight forward and too simplistic.
I must add that my daughter actually did like the book and the topic. So 3-stars only.
Still, for about the same price you can get these very attractive hardbound...

Ellie: This whole series of books is just wonderful. Pick a topic that your child is or might be inteterested in and these books draw them right in. My son has been reading them since second grade (end of third now) and he still anxiously awaits them as I buy new. They are by far his favorite series and in my opinion so much better than the other silly/gross/obnoxious series out there.

Sadie Parker: My son had to do a history project on a famous American and after giving several options he chose Muhammad Ali. He loves this book and he loved reading all about him. I was so proud that he loved it. It was an easy ready for a 10 year old and was informative, but also explained things in a way that made sense to him. We will be purchasing more of these books for him to read over summer break.
