This is a brilliant book, and although it does have some overlap with things that I've read before it is still well worth the purchase price because it consolidates so much helpful information all in one place.

Of the book itself:

1. It runs 392 pages including the bibliography. (The bibliography itself is 103 pages, or just over one quarter of the length of the book.)

2. 12 chapters over 283 pages of prose works out to about 25 pages per chapter.

Moreover, the chapters are subdivided into bite-sized essays. (It's something like 8 to 10 subsections for each chapter.)

3. Shellenberger strikes just the right balance between prose that is too terse or too fatty--and as such, he is a delight to read.

4. The book can be read out of order.

Albert: La mejor defensa del medio ambiente desde un punto de vista humanista, sin los vicios del ecologismo anti-progreso que recomiendan a los países en desarrollo hacer todo lo que nosotros no hicimos ni hacemos. Una mirada equilibrada a la par que optimista sobre un tema que ha sido politizado hasta extremos exagerados para servir agendas ideológicas que se habían quedado huérfanas e intereses económicos camuflados de altruismo. Shellenberger aplica el "optimismo racional" de Matt Ridley o Steven Pinker al ámbito de la naturaleza y calentamiento global, siendo su obra un complemento perfecto al trabajo de aquellos. Apocalypse Never cuenta además con una excelente discusión sobre sostenibilidad y eficiencia energética, poniendo en entredicho algunas modas actuales que bajo mayor escrutinio no son tan sostenibles como parecen (renovables, ganado en libertad, etc.), y defendiendo la energía nuclear como la más limpia y la más segura de todas - una posición cada vez menos controvertida (pregunten a Bill Gates) pese a la campaña de difamación que lleva sufriendo durante décadas. Apocalypse Never is an extremely important—and highly readable—book about Earth’s environment and contemporary human society. The author is a lifelong environmentalist. This book carries forward Michael Shellenberger’s personal mission—to protect the natural environment and to achieve the goal of universal prosperity for all people.

Shellenberger explains, “I wrote Apocalypse Never because the conversation about climate change and the environment has spiraled out of control.” In England, for example, leaders of an organization called Extinction Rebellion have made claims on national television, that because of climate change “Billions of people are going to die. Life on Earth is dying. Governments aren’t addressing it.”

A 16-year old Swedish girl became an international celebrity in 2019 for crying out that same message. In September 2019, a survey of thirty thousand people around the world found that 48 percent believed climate change would make humanity extinct.
