Ruka: If you are in the process of conversion I'd highly recommend this lovely read. Gave me a better perspective, and for me, was affirming of my choice.

Sharona: Very insightful and helpful. I will recommend this book to anyone wishing to convert. Also very useful for Jews who were separated from the community and who wish to reconnect.

Renee Godinez: If you are interested in learning more about Judaism or are contemplating conversion, this book is invaluable. Mrs. Diamant quickly becomes the friend who takes you by the hand and gently leads you through the process of becoming Jewish, all the while reminding you not to become overwhelmed; that it's okay not to know everything before you go to the mikvah, as this is a lifetime journey of learning.
However, there are a few things that kept me from giving Choosing a Jewish Life 5 stars. Mrs. Diamant's target audience is the partner of a born Jew who was raised Christian, and while I understand that you cannot please everyone, this does feel alienating for those of us who do not fit neatly into this little mold. Also, Mrs. Diamant adamantly insists that a Jew-by-Choice *must not* have a Christmas tree in their home again. Ever. I find it harsh and not at all empathetic to her audience to demand that people give up a ritual steeped in (hopefully) happy memories simply because she did not grow up with it. It would be very unfair to children to suddenly say one year, "Santa isn't coming anymore because that's not Jewish!". Instead of making this sort of declaration, perhaps...

Karin: This is an excellent guide for anyone converting, and as I don't want to repeat the other reviews here I'll get straight to the point:
This book is excellent if your family is religious and your in-laws are jewish. Yet I am from a non-religious background and one of those rare single converts (no jewish boyfriend/fiance/husband). So pretty much half of the book is completely wasted on me, because even though the advice on how to tell your family, and how to get your jewish in-laws to accept you is great, it simply doesn't apply to singles like me.
So I was a little disappointed that I wasted money on just about 50% of the book, but it is a nice introductory guide. Just not for singles with no religious upbringing. I would highly recommend "Judaism for Dummies" here, which is brilliant (except for the daft title).

Capt00: SUCH an easy book to read. I was able to sit down and finish it in the course of 2-3 days. Written as if a friend is speaking to you. On top of the ease of reading, the content is super informative and helpful.
