The quality of the print is nice, as well as the content, however the font is so small, that you need a magnifying glass (as if the format of the book should be 1,5 times bigger)

junimoon: Like everyone else who purchased this book, I concur it is a very beautiful thing. But I bought it because I am FINALLY going to Ireland and England this fall and wanted an overview of the history of these two countries. But like at least one other reviewer on Amazon, I am getting on in years. I have excellent reading glasses that have always sufficed my needs in the past, but for heavens sake, this type size is for mice. In addition, the history section is in a lighter color and the layout of the text does not help make this an easy read. It is also oversized which makes it difficult to hold and read. Best to lay it down on a table. That said, the content is very good. The level of information is deep enough to get a full understanding of what happened but not so much that you are drowning in details. The color and B&W photos are wonderful…truly a joy to flip through from page to page. And while I do not regret buying this book, had I known how unwieldy it is to pick and read, plus the type issues, I most likely would have purchased another book.

TriGuy: As a kid, I hated history…so playing catch up. I find some history books so dense and difficult to really get a lay of the land. This book delivers EXACTLY what I’m looking for. Simple overview, illustrations, timelines, “what happened before” “what happened after”. I truly believe that this is the perfect book to learn about English history. Will be buying more in the series!

Margaux C.: Enjoyed reading this book. It's a comprehensive and concise way of presenting the history of Britain and Ireland. It's the first time I've bought a book from DK that not only focuses on British History but that also includes Ireland. The only thing that I would want to change a little bit is the print. A little small compared to other DK Books. I understand how they wanted to fit everything in one book and they had to compromise on the print. Other than that, good quality paper, illustrations are a lot --- overall, thoroughly liked it and would recommend this book.
