Happy Dog Lady: I bought this for my 7 y/o nephew who really likes dinosaurs. It is age appropriate, maybe a little advanced for some 7 y/o, but they can grow into it & develop their reading skills which is always a plus. It is a fairly large, thin book & easy for them handle. It has large pictures. Some people complained about no correct pronunciations, but they are listed in the back of the book. I firmly believe in children learning to read & comprehend well. I always told my young daughters when they were small (20-25 years ago) that I would not always buy them a toy that they wanted, but that I would always buy them a book that they wanted! They are both great readers. One is now a successful attorney & the other is an administrative assistant for a non-profit agency. Being able to read fast & comprehend well is an invaluable asset in life. I give my small nephews toys for presents on birthdays, etc., but I always give them a book also. I was somewhat irritated when his mother made a smart remark that now she was going to have to read to him every night. James: My son is very excited to have this large book with brilliant pictures to help learn about different dinosaurs. He was clearly uncomfortable with some of the detailed graphics so we are putting this book away until he's 5 years old.

Larseroo: Our almost 4 year old son likes this book well enough. He did remark (and rightfully so) that some of the dinosaurs in the book seem to be pictures of toy dinosaurs. They all look pretty good (I wonder where you could buy one of those) EXCEPT for the T-Rex! It looks really bad, of all dinosaurs to pick, this one does not shine well in this book.

The text and information seems in order, but as we just now breaking into the dinosaur phase, we might read information that will tell us otherwise. Ofcouse we will post an update then :-) As for now, this is a good purchase, its a biiig book, the illustrations will give you lots to talk about.

Update 6/25/2013. Well the big book made through 2 boys and it finally moved onto a better place... we donated it to our local grade school. The binding did start falling apart, then again it has been a few years and the book was stepped on, used as a pillow etc.

We are out of the dino phase, so I can't say if there are better choices out there.
