Amazon Customer: I’ll admit it was a little overwhelming the first time I went through it, buts that’s because I wasn’t that familiar with the experience of handlettering. However, after a week of practicing and going through some online courses , it made much more sense the second time around! It’s actually a very clear and concise explanation of handlettering for both hand tools and vector-based program! First half of book is teaching, the second half is her artwork and explanations of how she used that knowledge to create them. Lots of GREAT tips! My ONLY complaint was the size of the text on a lot of the pages. I almost sent it back because of that, but after reading in bright lit area and sometimes wearing my magnifying eyeglasses lol (I’m 59), I decided it was well worth getting through the small size of text. Definitely recommend for anyone getting into hand lettering!

Utente A: Influenzata dalle youtuber l ho preso. È in inglese. Da leggere e tradurre. Meglio portare mercato di tali libri tradotti in italiano. Comunque tutto ok.

YueYue: Just received this book. I was so excited when opening the box but to only find out that the corners are damaged. Reviewing the contents in the book of itself is a great experience. Jessica included the process of how she creates lettering in the contents adds my bonus point here. Just feeling a bit disappointed that the corners are not in their best shape, especially to someone who is into typography and lettering, that little imperfection experience bugs a lot.

Douglas A. RohloffDouglas A. Rohloff: The 176 page book "In Progress". ISBN# 9781452136226 is a full color, 8.2 x 10.2 inch, hard cover book. See Inside a Lettering Artist's Sketchbook and Process, from Pencil to Vector.
I enjoyed going through Jessica's sketchbook and learning how she goes about her drawings. It helped me to learn her different techniques and allowed me to apply them to my own. The book goes over the 17 art materials she uses to draw her masterpieces, including the sketchbooks she likes to use. And then finally the digital art supplies that are used. And also includes the software and services that are important. I also really enjoyed the photo of her art studio, although I wish there was more.
Basically after that she goes through the process of logo designs with "research and brainstorming", "Sketching" and "Vector Drawings". They are all great techniques! Less than half way through the book she goes right to "The Work". All her past jobs that she went through from thumbnail sketches to the light pencil drawings then to the pen and ink and finally color!
PROS:
Lots of color photos
Shows the process she took very clearly
CONS:
I do not see any cons, the...

jaci: I've been waiting for this book before I even knew I was waiting for this book. I was turned onto Hische's work in my fundamental college design classes and have since been stalking her website for inspiration during my own lettering projects. For what it's worth, I do consider Hische to be the greatest modern vector letterer there is, so I suppose this review is somewhat biased.
What I respect about Hische is that she's willing to share her secrets. If you've taken her Skillshare classes, there's a lot of repetitive info here, but even so it's great to have it in documented form so that you don't have to go back and watch the videos. If you haven't, well, prepare to get a lot of information thrown onto you that makes this a must-have manual for any aspiring letterer. What I believe is new content not seen in her video and on her website are all of the sketches, right down to the erased lines and pencil indents on the paper. The sketches not being 'retouched' to look perfect is absolutely wonderful and reassuring that not even the best letters get their lines right the first time. Hische shows her process for an intricate print featuring her most famous quote from beginning...
