Katja: I read this book a second time, about 15 years later. I still don't understand it entirely. But I understand more. Fascinating.

Mr. C. Banks: The Alchemist is one of my favourites books of all time so approaching The Pilgrimage came with some trepidation. First of all, I am in a different stage of my life too when I first read The Alchemist. I am no longer reading a Paulo Coelho narrative whilst pack-backing through Asia in search of my own identify and place in the world. And I think this is an important part of how to approach his work. Coelho writes for readers who are in search of their mysterious, faraway souls - for those who have the time to self reflect and question their own morality. Unfortunately, I don’t anymore but, for what it’s worth, I enjoyed this book on a surface level. Now back to the real world…

Jill M. Nolan: "The Pilgrimage: A Contemporary Quest for Ancient Wisdom" by Paulo Coelho is a powerful and thought-provoking book that takes readers on a journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth. The book is a memoir of the author's pilgrimage on the Road to Santiago, an ancient pilgrimage route in Spain, and it is interspersed with teachings and wisdom from various spiritual traditions.
One of the strengths of the book is Coelho's writing style, which is both poetic and evocative. He describes his journey in a way that is both personal and universal, and his words are filled with wisdom and insight. The author's unique perspective on the pilgrimage, his reflections and observations on the journey, and the people he met along the way make the book a very engaging read.
Another strength of the book is its focus on the importance of the inner journey and the role it plays in personal growth and spiritual development. Coelho provides a fresh perspective on the topic of pilgrimage, and he offers a range of teachings and practices for cultivating self-awareness and inner wisdom.
Overall, "The Pilgrimage" is a valuable and inspiring book that provides a new perspective on...

Carina: I've read a lot of Paulo Coelho over the years, but I had never read "The Pilgrimage" in its entirety. Last week, after watching a special about the Portuguese road to Santiago, I decided to read this book and was both pleasantly surprised and slightly disappointed (if that's even possible).
I was surprised by how much this book made me want to travel the road and learn about myself and the history of those who have traveled it. (I'm going to look into the Portuguese road and all that it has to offer. I have been to Santiago de Compostela, but walking the road is really what I find most intriguing.) I was disappointed in the "supernatural" aspect of the book, all the things I consider impossible to the majority of the population. We cannot all have these magical powers that Coelho claims to have. We do not all have the sage knight Petrus to guide us on the road. This is perhaps why I find the story of "The Alchemist" so much more appealing to the population at large. The shepherd Santiago can be anyone, while the pilgrim Paulo Coelho is always Paulo Coelho.
This being said, I loved the way this experience clearly inspired Coelho's many books. The shepherd Santiago is...

henry Mos: Throughout the story, characters gave me some outside thoughts that a normal book would not, they brought suspense, sad moments, and other different mood changes throughout the book that make this such a good book. Paulo is on a road for a change in life, with Petrus with him, they explore the road to Copenstela that include different feelings while they were on the road. Paulo is on a trip to find his sword but instead he realizes the trip isn't all about the sword, he is on a trip to finding the sword and along the way he rungs into life changing moments that make him forget about the sword and think more of what time of person he is.
There was rarely any weaknesses throughout the book due to the fact that it always had my attention. Unlike other books that just catch people's attention in some chapters, these chapters have suspense, sad moments and epic moments throughout the book not only In some chapters. Chapters were not to long but also were not too short, different characters made huge impacts on the story leading the book to have more than one main character. I found this book to be very easy to word, there really wasn't any words I did not understand or also...
